I have been a regular customer at Anoki for many years. My Diamond Wedding anniversary was to take place and I booked early for a family dinner party on Saturday 15th October. We arrived in two taxis and straight away there was chaos in the car park with no spaces available anywhere so grateful we did not use our own cars. So many vibes that things were not right in the restaurant. The whole party was seated by 7.30pm. We had to make four requests before we received water on the table. The three dishes of papadums were very meagre. Another indication that the restaurant was not working as normal. We received our drinks order but then it took until 9pm before we finally placed our main meal order. It was obvious that it would have been useless to have ordered any starters. Finally received our meal at 9.30pm a full two hours after we had arrived. The night was just full of frustration waiting for our food and this was a very special family occasion which turned out to be disastrous The food was not of the quality which we had experienced over the years and the bottom line was that the Anoki Restaurant had been totally overbooked that night which resulted in chaos and a total shambles. In summary my advice to prospective customers is keep away from a Saturday Night if you want satisfaction. Finally I presented my Privilege Card to claim my 20% discount of the food but was told I could only have a maximum of £50. No mention of this on the t&c on the card. I paid over £451.00 and left with a very disappointed night for my special occasion. The advice to Anoki is don't be greedy and take on more than you can cope with if you want to retain...
Read morePrices are exactly double that of most Indian restaurants, popodoms were served and charged for without even asking us and the sauces were literally watered down to the point of running off the popodoms! No lime pickle or a speciality that would befit such a highly priced restaurant, just watery juices that drip off before you even get it in your mouth! Main courses, all at the £25 mark were flavoursome but completely overwhelmed with salt and dry to the point of inedibility that rivalled the papodoms! To add insult to injury, not only were the papodoms added to the bill without a mention, but so was a 10% service charge with no sign of it being optional until we read the scribbled bill afterwards (if I'd have known, I wouldn't have paid it!) The stainless steel plates took a bit of getting used to and had a feeling of kitchenware. Give me a smart, shiny porcelain plate in preference any day! Higher priced restaurants usually have something special about them to write home about, but not the Anoki. The nearby Lotus at Willington overlooks a serene waterscape that might qualify for the double rate, (but doesn't overcharge) and Nadi's is pretty good if you want to dine by the water's edge, but the Anoki boasts outdoor dining that turns out to be in a scruffy parking lot by the side of the noisy A38! Unimpressed is an understatement and only confirms my last experience when I made the mistake of going there a decade ago! I'll give interior decor 9/10, the impressive costumes are striking but overall there are much better restaurants without having to pay double or feel...
Read moreI visited Anoki Burton on the A38 to pick up a takeaway one evening. I picked what I wanted and went to purchase the items. I signed up for their Gold Card a while back on the instruction I could get discounts off all takeaways this is why I got the card in the 1st place. I showed the girl and the desk when a waiter said behind us "you can't use the card on cold takeaways". I picked up the leaflet advertising the card and asked where does it say non valid on cold takeaways? I says 30% off takeaways nothing about hot or cold or this is Anoki and that's Anoki express. The manager came along and I must say his whole approach stank!!! Immediately he accused me of shouting when all I said was "30% of takeaways" as per the leaflet. He didn't care at all he said "that's the price take it or leave it". I advised they need to make it crystal clear what is and isn't included with the card. The manager seemed more bothered about the sit down restaurant customers than this paying customer. I advised does he speak to all customers like this? He didn't care. I advised the customer is always right and again it was "take it or leave it" Compared to my other visits this was totally unacceptable and shambolic. A total disgrace to the restaurant business. If I ran my business like that I'd go bust within a month. Thank God for them their curries are really nice. That's the only plus I can give them this time round the rest if I could give No Stars I would within a...
