Quite a few teething problems at the catchems that need ironing out. We had booked a table for 6 for 1pm and were given a picnic bench. We were not the skinniest group of people and would have struggled to all fit onto one bench, and even if we had been successful, I doubt the bench would have taken our combined weight. We asked if we could have two chairs instead of all of us sitting at the picnic bench and were told that was not allowed as then it would be a table of 8 (even though we explained there would still only be 6 of us sat there). We asked if we could move to two tables instead which we were allowed to do. We were told to use the app to order, which we did for drinks, but the food menu was not on the app. We asked if we could order food in person and were told that was fine and to use the website to see the menu, but the website was down. We asked what food they did and were told "chips, chicken or pizza" we asked what pizzas they did and were told by the waitress that she didn't know. We then asked if she could go find out, to which she did go get a paper menu but we were made to feel like this was a big inconvenience. By about 3pm the app stopped working for some of our party and we were told that we couldn't order or pay in person, we could only use the app. When we showed our phones to show the app wasn't working, we were told "just this once" we could order and pay in person. We asked if they had certain drinks, which they did, but on the app these were greyed out so we couldn't order them. Everytime we came to order, staff argued that we had to use the app, even when we showed we couldn't order on the app as it wasn't working we were told we still had to use it and there wasn't an alternative. By about 5pm some members of the parties phones had died and again we were told there wasn't an alternative to ordering on the app, but after explaining the app wasn't working, staff let us pay by cash/card but even though it was the same staff serving us each time, we had to go through the same explanations everytime. By 6pm, after spending quite a bit of money throughout the afternoon, we were told again we could only use the app. We raised the issue with the manager who to start with wouldnt budge on the issue saying we could only order on the app and nothing else, but eventually agreed to take our order in person and take cash/card. A very frustrating visit where the attitude was pretty much use the app or leave, regardless of the fact the app didn't work very well. Would...
Read moreWent here for their festive meal. So much missing off the plate from what it said on the menu. Way undercooked veg.. I'm sure carrots and brussel sprouts were raw as when a sprout was put under the knife under the outside leaf the rest looked exactly the same as one just taken off the stalk and I wouldn't imagine many people would sit in a field of them and eat them straight from the plant. There was no cranberry sauce that was supposed to be there, the pigs in blankets were almost unidentifiable as they were black and inedible. The pate, be warned, isn't pate its brawn and came with those awful bits of hard dry French bread not as in the details, lightly toasted bread!! The Christmas pudding was 'okay' as far as those little individual mass produced collections of dried fruit are concerned. Don't get me wrong I really like christmas pudding but it really does need to be made properly and come as a slice of a much bigger pudding so it actually has some flavour. The white sauce said it was a brandy sauce well I think the nearest it came to any brandy was perhaps when the cornflour box stood next to a bottle of brandy on a store room shelf. All in all a total...
Read moreIt was my birthday. There were 4 of us. We had booked a table for 1pmbto 3pm. On arrival, no one was there to greet us, or show us to our booked table. We stood at the bar, where there was a annoyed, and stressed blonde girl behind the bat. She ignored us twice, wondering off, to serve at the other bar. In her defence, she appeared to be the only one serving. Eventually she served us, and pointed to our table. We then went to the bar to order the food and drinks. We tried to order 2 pizzas, and 2 gammon steak. We were told no pizza left? . Anyway, then ordered something else instead of pizza. Waited almost 50 mins. Far too long. When the food arrived it was very nice, and good value for what we paid. However, the lack of courtesy, and bad service on arrival would stop us visiting again. We have just moved to the area, and were looking for a local, where we could get a good bar meal. It's terrible to be ignored, and treated as a inconvenience. Especially on your birthday, with friends. Disappointed on how long the meal took too. It seems the pub is very understaffed, and the ones that are there looked fed up, and acted accordingly towards customers. Not a good...
