National Trust Restaurant — Restaurant in South Derbyshire

Staff lack training. We ordered 9 sausage beans and wedges. The undertrained staff behind the counter tried to upsell which he did. As he mentioned the wedges can come with bacon and cheese. Obviously the group thought this was a great add on so all replied of course. Except one person who said plain wedges are fine. The staff member then proceeded to put 9 orders of just wedges through the till missing the sausage and beans as I'm assuming wedges with bacon has a specific button without the sausage and beans obviously we realised what had happened and all laughed it off (all of our group left hungry and then proceeded to find somewhere more professional to eat) the Abby and grounds are nice and worth a visit however if I was going back I would just plan to eat...

There is a good food choice here. I really like the refrigerator cake when it's out. I have mixed feelings over the service ~ the front of house (behind the tills are helpful and friendly) in the kitchen they can be very slow. When I have eatten with family some of the meals took over 40min to come out (this is a long time when you are not experiencing fine dining). We have also had to cancel on the occasion when it took over 50min. If the food does arrive it is hot and tasty though. I would recommend if you don't order hot meals...

Waited outside by ice cream counter behind two other customers. When the waitress came out to serve she served the two people in front of me, the went inside with one of the other customers so they could pay, who then came back out but the waitress never came back out to serve me even though she saw me waiting in the queue. She was then stood behind the counter inside doing nothing.

No signage to say whether to pay for ice-cream inside...
