Incredible food. Really blown away by the quality of the cooking. Smoked eel starter on rye bread and cucumber salad was to die for. I could eat it every day. Mussels cider and leek sauce were also epic. Good sized portion and just delicious. Sirloin sharer was incredible and cooked to perfection, béarnaise sauce of dreams. Duck breast was the best I’ve ever had (and have lived in France for many years) the green bean olive salad it was served with was divine. All topped off with some homemade ice cream, flavours unique and creative. Chef (who has recently taken over the business) came out and spoke to most tables, he’s super talented and wish him all the best. A really lovely relaxed setting in a gorgeous old pub, in beautiful Devon village. If you’re a foodie, this will not disappoint.

Treacherous getting there but it is well worth the drive. The Inn is nested in the beautiful green hills of Devon and building and its surroundings take you on a journey back in history, 800 yrs to be precise. The peace and whiteness of the place makes you ponder why we are rushing so much in our lives. And the excellent house ale contributes to make you forget all the worries. The room was cosy and comfortable, the dinner tasty and filling and the English breakfast among the best I’ve ever had. The hosts friendly and welcoming. A perfect place to go back to...

5/5🌟 A truly excellent meal. Fresh seasonal well cooked and presented. Superb service by everyone, truly a hidden gem of a restaurant tucked inside this 13th century Inn. The menu is inviting and inventive and not trying to be anything more than superb quality cooking. Brilliant flavours and food combinations. A small menu, handwritten serving exceptional quality food. Eating by candlight makes the whole experience relaxing and informal yet the standard of cooking is very high indeed. Bravo chef.

We’re just back from a lovely week staying at the Church House Inn.||We arrived on Boxing Day evening and were met by our host, John, who showed us in and gave us a quick tour of the apartment. He also made a point of helping us with our bags and baggage. We’d asked for a table in the pub for an evening meal but were told that the pub was shut on Boxing Day evening, but John had left us a couple of meals in the fridge along with a couple of bottles of wine, which was a nice touch.|| The apartment is, basically, perfect. The entrance lobby is ideal for boots and coats. The lounge is comfortable and cosy. The kitchen is well equipped and fully functional including a nice fridge complete with a freezer which was handy for ice. The bedroom was lovely with a very comfortable bed and a roomy wardrobe. The bedside tables were useful with a lamp on each one. Off the bedroom is the spotless en-suite with a good shower and an ample supply of fluffy, white towels.|| The Church House Inn is a lovely pub with a nice atmosphere, pleasant staff and a good menu.|| I would recommend the place un-reservedly with its proximity to Totnes, the English Riviera, Plymouth...

This 13th century pub is strikingly, wonderfully old. Entering the principle room - a large long, wood clad, ceiling-beamed, candle lit dining hall with a grand fireplace at the far end - is like stepping back in time. The barman on our visit was young but highly competent and humourous. The draught selection was good (I had a local pale ale and a casked real ale) and the food menu well balanced. Aside from a quibble about my seafood linguine, there wasn't much to fault, and the fact the barman asked what we thought of our meal (and took on board our feedback) bodes well. There is outdoor seating to the front and, in a small patio replete with an array of sunflowers and a pizza oven, also to the back.

Located next to the church in the tiny, labyrinthine village of Harberton, this is a preciously bucolic spot. There's overflow parking next to the village hall and if you're driving a large car take care as the roads are very...
