Just returned from a week here! The Cottages are brilliant. Perfectly furnished to an outstanding quality. We stayed in the Cockle with our little doggie. He settled in straightaway. Secure garden for him to use and a stair gate to keep him securely down stairs even at night. If you would like a holiday in an accommodation furnished to the high standard you enjoy at home this is the place for you. Great facilities, oven, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and Large TVs in every room, rain showers, fluffy white towels. Recently we have stayed in accommodation that have pulled back in the nice welcomes such as a welcome pack of basic foods and toiletries but not here!! Nicely packaged toiletries waiting in the bathroom and Prosseco, tea, milk and cookies etc in the kitchen ! We ate every night we could at Mussel Inn as why eat anywhere else the food was fab!! Catering for all tastes in our part!! Even if they were fully booked (which being so popular they often were) they managed to fit us in. We had some lovely local walks particularly taking in the Wembury Ponies which was a welcome surprise. Great farm shop to visit nearby at Ben’s Farm shop and if you want a bit of retail therapy pop into Plymouth for some big shopping centres. We went further afield to Brixham lovely seaside town about an hrs drive away and you can even pop over the border to Cornwall 45 mins to NT Cothele worth a visit too.

Went here for date night after the husband was recommended by friends. I checked out the menu before and thought it was too posh for me 🤣 but the husband wanted to go so we booked a table. When we arrived there for our table at 7pm the carpark was full!....shows that it is enjoyed by many throughout the day but someone was just leaving! Perfect! I didn't need to find a space somewhere else in the dark! Lots of friendly faces from the staff when we arrived and there was lots of chatter from the customers seated at their tables. Considering the number of people it was clean and tidy and well looked after. We were seated and ordered our drinks. I liked how they were mainly local suppliers and businesses helping to support eachother! We ordered our food and my lack of posh names for normal dishes showed 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️ but everything I ordered was delicious! My husband even said the hummus from his starter was "the best he had ever had!" All of the staff were amazing tending to customers, turning tables over for the next and keeping everything clean and tidy, like a well oiled machine! Will definitely return but not one for our toddler just yet...this can remain a nice place for mummy and daddy first!

We made a reservation online for our group of four. We all ordered the trio of meats, which came with turkey breast, leg of lamb, beef, swede mash, tenderstem broccoli, brussel sprouts (it was in this gratinated form which was VERY good), roasted potatoes, carrots, and a Yorkshire pudding. While all the meats were very good, the highlight is definitely the lamb. The beef and turkey are good, but not excellent. The veg are all top notch, particularly the swede mash and sprouts. The gravy had an interesting green tinge, but aside from that, nothing notable. I highly recommend the lemon posset. The rhubarb and stem ginger really complement the lemon, which adds a very delicate flavor to the posset. I was genuinely surprised how much I liked it. The shortbread and dollop of ice cream that came with it were also great accompaniments. I would definitely come back for the lamb roast + lemon posset. Though the chocolate mousse dessert also looks quite tempting.

Booked a table for 6 adults. When we arrived it was very busy and informed by a member of staff, that our table wasn't ready, also that if we wanted a seat while waiting, it would have to be outside. I have mobility issues, so not perfect, however someone offered me a seat. Our table was ready 20 minutes after our booked time, so, took our seats. We ordered wine and after perusing the menu, chose starters, and mains. The starters were fine. 4 of the mains came with fries/chips, these had all been salted by the chef and we're not edible. I ordered muscles, and while I appreciate they are a seafood, these too were very salty. The young lad who cleared our table asked if everything was ok, which it wasn't. He informed me that he would speak to the manger/chef. He was very apologetic. Another member of staff then came in, and informed me that 'fries are always salted, and if we didn't want salt, we should of said'. Her manner was extremely off-handed. I personally, have never known restaurants to pre salt chips (except McDonald's) and this is a seasoning that I never add to my food. I chose this restaurant, as it came highly recommended, however, I shall not return, nor will the rest of my party. It is a shame as the location is lovely, but the attitude of the second member of staff was not professional and quite demeaning. I paid the bill, which, I had budgeted £400.00, we only spent £300.00 as we left earlier than...

Went to the Mussel Inn for my wife and mines Anniversary. Greeted warmly and then taken care by the very professional but friendly staff. The place was very busy, with a happy laid back atmosphere. So I would recommend booking, which is easy to do on their website To start my wife had the Corn Hummus with Chorizo, which was absolutely delicious. I had the Cornish Style Mussels, which were fantastic, they had been steamed in ale which gave them a distinct and wonderful flavour. Then for Main my wife had the lamb, which frankly was out of this world, and I have to admit, having tried it I was very jealous. However, my king prawn and monkfish Penang curry, was inviting and flavorful, in other words bloody delish. As the food was so good and despite feeling almost/very full. We decided to try a pudding, my wife had Chocolate parfait, which was apparently and again delicious and I had the Coconut rice pudding, which was very good . We told the staff that we felt the Chef should have a pay rise as the meal had been exceptional. The cost with a couple of pints very well kept Atlantic ale and a couple of large soft drinks was £89. Frankly we felt we had robbed them, having paid more and had poorer experiences else where. We shall be returning soon and are likely to repeatedly returning if the food is...
