We went for Sunday roast this afternoon after a walk with the dog at wembury. We decided to sit outside as the weather was nice and it was very loud inside, not the cosy old pub we were expecting. The garden was lovely, plenty of seating area and beautiful views. They had run out of pork already at 2pm so I had beef as my 2nd choice and my other half had gammon- staff were accomodating with dietary requirements and friendly. Slightly annoying having to pay an extra £5 for cauli cheese which in my opinion, is a staple part of Sunday roast! When the food came out it looked lovely and well presented, nice and hot too. The cauli cheese was one of the best ones I have had when eating out, the veg was well cooked and my partner's gammon was lovely! The beef however, was tough as old boots and the dog must have thought it was his lucky day as he got most of it! I was pretty disappointed as I had paid £18 for it! Overall it was not a bad meal!

This is the 4th time we have been to The Odd Wheel- we live 30 mins away in the middle of nowhere and so shows the reason why we keep coming back.. the food and the staff! Today was the first time we’d had the roast.. oh my days, it’s incredible. My husband had the roast beef and I had the crispy pork belly and it was amazing- cooked to perfection with all the beautiful veg. We then treated ourselves to the Malteser cheesecake and the infamous sticky toffee pudding… yum! What I also need to mention was the staff. We had Luke and Olivia look after us and nothing was too much trouble, so helpful, friendly & so lovely. All in all, a wonderful meal and we’d brought my best friend who was visiting from Oz and I’m so glad we did and with my family, we had a great lunch- thank you x

First visit and certainly won't be the last. Booked a table for Sunday and thankfully there was space in the bar area. Parking is available on-site with wheelchair-accessible facilities. Of course dog friendly, and treats are available for the fur babies. Beautiful decor, with a cosy log fire to lounge around. We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff, and nothing was a problem. I chose the roast, omg, I wasn't disappointed but I certainly didn't realise how big the portion size would be. The food was delicious, the beef cooked to perfection, and presented lovely. Without a doubt, I would highly recommend this place for either food, drinks or a group booking. Thank you 😊

Sept 2024 Our second visit here as we were so impressed the first time, this time we came for lunch. Greeted by Luke on arrival who gave us the option of whether to sit in the bar or restaurant, drinks served once we were comfy and had a chance to look at drinks menu. I had the beef brisket ciabatta with added fries and my wife had the ceasar salad, both portions were more than generous, the beef brisket was cooked to perfection, so tender and rich flavour with melted cheese on top, ciabatta was crunchy and soft and doughy inside, perfect, the fries were delicious, coleslaw was great, the salad dressing was especially tasty, my wife loved her salad, lots of chicken, parmesan and dressing and crisp lettuce. food and service were top notch just like our first visit back in July, great chilled music playing and a relaxed setting, Thank you again to Luke and the team for another great experience. Can't wait to come back soon.

Jul 2024 After my wife won a Facebook competition for a meal voucher we were excited to finally come to you after seeing some of the amazing food on here. We were not disappointed, firstly big shout out too Rowenna and Ethan who were our servers tonight, they did an excellent job of looking after everyone in the restaurant and bar. really really great service from start to finish. We ordered the Summer sharing platter which was absolutely loaded with so many delicious dishes. every single dish on the platter was incredible and the portion size was more than enough for two, I have a big appetite and we were both stuffed after, we ordered a side salad and the homeslaw but we really didn't need those, the platter was more than enough. Obviously we all know you have a separate stomach for pudding so we both ordered the chocolate orange cheesecake, OMG!!! This is incredible and tastes just like Terry's. the portion size was filling and a perfect end to an amazing meal. There was also a lovely selection of drinks on the bar, I'm non alcoholic and I had the staropramen zero lager and zero Guinness and the wife had alcoholic rekorderlig passion fruit cider and she and i said they were the prefect thirst quencher. The decor inside and out of the pub is really upmarket and a perfect sunspot out on the beer garden. We sat in the restaurant and it was really chilled and relaxed and perfect for a date night. we can't thank you enough for your hospitality and the delicious food and drink we had this evening. We will definitely be back soon. For two people the price was...

Came here on a Saturday evening after hearing a lot of great reviews and my partner knowing the new owner who unfortunately wasn’t working at the time. As a family of 5 we came here to eat and the food was terrible and was so disappointing. We spent a lot of money and the dishes we ordered is what we would normally eat, and we would clear the plates…. but we couldn’t even manage to finish just half the dishes because it was that tasteless or off putting.

-Kids beans had bubbles in and looked like gelatine was added (slime like) -Kids chicken tenders, the chicken was overly chewy like rubber. -Whitebait was 3x plus the normal size, which my son loves but struggled to eat these as the spine of these large fish was scratching his throat. -Steak dish was bland and not seasoned. -Garlic mushrooms, we couldn’t taste any garlic just pure thick white cheese sauce. -chicken supreme was disappointing, fondant potato wasn’t seasoned and still quite hard in the middle. Topped with chicken thigh (with bones) which again was in seasoned and bland. No white supreme sauce… instead had cooked leaks in a slight white watery sauce (if you want to call it sauce) looked to me the leaks wasn’t fully drained and placed on the plate.

Bar man collected our all but full plates of food and asked how it was, we was totally honest as I think always helps to be honest. He said I’m sorry and walked off and never returned. We felt robbed, we hate wasting food and spent £150 for it to be handed back with no customer care after or even a small gesture of even a free drink or something.

It’s sad to say but we had a very bad experience. The pub itself is lovely and still know people who enjoyed the roast dinners here… just a shame if there are different chefs at different levels you’ll always have this issue and never be consistent with having high standards and...

I lived in Wembury many moons ago, from the great winter of 1961/62 I believe, we moved to Devon for the milder weather which made me lol at the time, have great memories and was blessed to grow up in such a wonderful village my father who was a violet alcoholic managed to get himself barred double quick time which I shall forever be grateful for, didn’t stop him but at least he was no longer able to embarrass my mother & I & had to drink far away thank god, my mum was buried in the church overlooking the sea, I still go down there & sit & have a chat with her, lovely peaceful setting & shows how well respected my mother was in the village, Wembury has expanded beyond recognition, we played 20 + aside football on the village green which has sadly (sorry to you new residents) been built upon, great times in the woods horse riding at the top of Brownhill lane & down at the beach stables which belonged to the Swiss (lol) chalet camp, new romances once a fortnight chasing of the lads from the naval gunnery school who would try to muscle in on our beach, not a massive lot to do with the Odd Wheel you think but it is as this is where the customers come from, never got involved as been more or less teatotal all my life, would buy bottles of pop and crisps with little blue bags of salt inside so you could make your crisps as salty or not as you liked while sitting in one of the two phone boxes in the village, lovely times so much to tell so little space & time, Thank you Wembury I really was blessed to grow up in such a beautiful location, bye bye you all & if you are thinking of going to the Odd Wheel, Do it as it will be well worth your while, good bye for now Wembury see you after this stupid man made pandemic has passed on & we get some normality back in our lives. Bless...
