My wife and I took my Mother to the Ship Inn today for lunch. Although I have never been to this establishment before as we live I. Cornwall I had read very good reviews of the place and especially the food on Trip Advisor this morning. We'll the were extremely accurate the food we had there today was of the best quality and although there was a bit of a wait for our food you didn't mind because the quality was outstanding. Also it is very popular as there were many people eating so the food was obviously going to take some time. None of us had starters although they all read as very inviting. For the main course I had the lamb suet pudding with mash potato and veg with a red wine jus. It was outstanding, if I could have I would have liked the plate clean. My wife had the plaice with tarragon sauce, crab and scallops which she enjoyed very much and my mother had the stark burger in a brioche roll with red cabbage and chips. She had a hard job to finish it all but stated it was very nice. I can say that this was probably the best pub lunch we have had for quite some time. Also the friendly staff were very good and made the lunch more enjoyable, I'm sure we will come back again, my thanks to the chef and...

My parents and I came here for an evening meal after a rather long day out.

First of all, the staff were super friendly and cheerful - and made us feel uttermost welcome, which is really refreshing when coming into a restaurant/pub.

Second of all, the food is some of the best food we've ever had: my step dad had the Arancini Crab Balls (which he commented were delicious) to start and had Hake for his main. He remarked it to be the best fish he has ever had in his entire life (considering he is a massive fish fan, that is rather exceptional).

As for my mother, she is a vegan and was more than delighted to discover a proper and very well-made full vegan meal that she found incredible.

I had the lamb rump which was some of the best lamb I've ever had, cooked to perfection with a brilliant sauce.

Finally, the desserts were more than sublime and a very tasty end to an amazing and unbelievable meal. Truly confirming just how much of an incredible experience coming to this place was.

My parents and I could not recommend this establishment enough - and we have booked again this same week, hungry to find out what the other foods on the menu taste like....

We booked this based on the online reviews and it surpassed expectations. A lovely building mixing modern and traditional style with a warm atmosphere and friendly staff. We were given a well-positioned table for six including the grandchildren with plenty of elbowroom. The menu is exactly the right size; plenty of choice but not too many. Check the specials! Service was prompt and the food terrific. Tomato and pesto soup, beef and ale in suet, perfectly cooked hake, fabulous selection of green vegetables exactly al dente. Good cask ales and a selection of wines. Amazing value so make sure you leave a decent tip. No photos to post - we were too busy tucking in. We'll be back even if we're not in the immediate area. Just brilliant. Not...

Despite living about 2 miles away, we'd never actually been to the Ship Inn even though we'd been recommended it several times. So when family came to visit us, we took the opportunity and went. It's a lovely setting, in the village square, with a nice church opposite. We were spoilt for choice with the menu. My brother-in-law and mother-in-law both saying they could eat everything on the menu and were having a hard time picking. To cut a long story short, they both commented that the food was the "best they had EVER eaten anywhere" and that's quite high praise from a 60yo and a 85yo who have eaten at their fair share of places in their lifetime. Suffice to say, we'll be back.

Since moving to the area last year, this was our 6th visit to The Ship Inn. Parking was easier than we expected, and the greeting was excellent. The restaurant area seems very large, going off into a far room. Tables aren't crammed in and vary in size. The menu was good and varied. The Sunday Roast fayre us exceptional in quality and £18.95 each. We have been there for supper too. I had a pint of Dartmoor IPA and my wife had a Diet Coke. I recall the bill came to around £90 for 3 of us but given the difficulties for pubs, the taste and quality of the food was well worth it.
