Disgusting behaviour from staff, wild accusations, consistently spoke over me on the phone and felt the need to become patronising when asked to stop talking over me. Also told me I should not be using my phone whilst driving to make the complaint, I was using hands free. Put the phone down on me twice then accused me of harassment when I called back. A lady I assume is Sian, Correct me if I’m wrong, I’m sure you will, Knocked 20% off my bill as ‘a gesture of good will’ when I asked for a refund on one meal, Tom told me I did not have a right to complain as my complaint was due to ‘preference’ as I described my meal as dry, cheap and not very tasty. I was offered a pudding to which I politely declined as I did not want a sweet treat. I was also offered a replacement but declined as my partner had finished his meal and I did not want to wait further with the chance it could happen again, these are my consumer rights. I just wanted a refund on the one meal. I have contacted customer services as they have accused me of SCREAMING down the phone. They did not want to know/care. I have never ever come across customer service like this in my life! :( this experience has really really upset me. I was also told I didn’t know where I was as I said I had the phone put down on me 3 times when in fact it was only twice. Also they clearly have no understanding of what ‘a gesture of good will’ is compared to just simply resolving a complaint all they wanted to do was argue argue argue. Also I can clearly see they’ve replied to another customer thinking this is me on a previous review as they have stated the exact issues I have highlighted. Eeeeek! You can’t please everyone but you certainly try and pop your listening ears on. Just called back to let them know I have left a review so they now know which customer they should be...
Read moreSince this last refurb and new menu, we really enjoyed our visit. It was our daughter's 18th birthday and there was 6 of us visiting. 2 people over 80, our daughter, her girlfriend and myself and my husband. The selection on the menu was great for all. There was no drinks menu yet and that was a little disappointing but a quick walk to the bar to a well informed barman was no bother. When we walked in the hostess was right there to greet us and took us to our table. Service was quick (possibly a bit too quick with elderly diners) but for us it was perfect. Food was really good and not only looked appetising, it also smelt and tasted how it looked! So spot on there! Loved the metal plates the burgers came on. Works well for that rustic feel of a burger and fries. We are a bit of a chip/fry connoisseur and the oil the fries and chips were cooked in was perfect. Portion sizes are good as well. Nobody left hungry.
Was a bit disappointed that for 3 small onion rings it was £1.50. they were really nice and somewhat crispy. Small being approx size of a fifty pence piece. I would have thought they would have been a bit bigger or thicker for that price. One of our guests had the tomato soup. How pleasant it was to see that it looked homemade and tasted rather nice. We do hope it was homemade and look forward to coming for a bowl of soup and roll on a cold evening.
We stopped going because it was just always the same old same old and have found that this last refurb and menu has re-sparked our liking for the premises. Well done Tom, Sian...
Read moreWe didn’t book a table and came on the off chance we could and were greeted as soon as we came in. No problem at all with just a request we vacate the table by 7.30pm. We had a good two hours before then so agreed. The service was prompt and polite. We sat down kids, dog, wheelchair and ordered our drinks and food. A short wait later and food came out but I felt we were missing something. Button mushrooms were missing and my son got his fish and chips but without any chips in sight. My chips were nowhere to be seen either. In a comical and very apologetic way from the staff bit by bit our meals were topped up with the missed items. Very quickly I must say. 10 seconds or so for each missing item so just I chuckled and accepted it. I can only assume the chef just forgot to put it on the plates. All were cooked and instantly brought out to us so no waiting. Just found it a bit funny. The entire meals were cooked brilliantly and delicious. Staff were very attentive and very pleasant. We’ve never been as a family before although I came a few times years ago. We’ll definitely be coming back and thank the staff who served us and prepared our meals. I found this a very human experience with no technology thrust in our faces to order. Just a paper notepad a smiling waitress and staff who looked like they enjoyed their work and wanted to be there. It made it a very pleasant experience. Thankyou so much. My family and I all had a...
