Beware: In our opnion the room not fit for purpose instigating feelings of sickness.

Apparent damp smell in ground floor room due to ack of ventilation and inadequate extraction fan to bathroom instantly worried my wife and I regarding dampness. After arriving and unpacking at approx 5pm I took a walk while my wife slept. We then ate dinner at 7pm and retired after settling the entire bill (as requested) to the room at approx 9.30pm. On re-entering the room, I instantly felt hat the room smelt very damp. I returned to the restaurant where I raised the issue and requested a different room. As none were available I was quickly offered a refund on the accommodation total which I accepted at the time. I did however add that as my wife and I have share wine over diner we were unable to seek alternative accommodation. Therefore, had no choice but to try and sleep in the room, We required to stay in the area as we had tickets for a meeting in Newark the next morning. As a ground floor room, we only had the option of locking the one window on its H lock slightly open (only a 5mm gap) to try and get some ventilation as for security we could not have this ground floor window open. The window design meant here was no fan window to use. We then had to try and sleep with the En-suite door open and light on to operate the small extractor fan to try and help relieve the smell of damp. Which unfortunately it didn't. It was clear that as the room was unfit for purpose, we both awoke felling ill. My wife was sick twice as we journeyed onwards to Newark which we decided to regrettably cancel and continue straight home.

First ever non 5 Star rating I have ever given...

SIMPLY DELICIOUS FOOD & EXCELLENT SERVICE! 💕 This place is a little gem! 💎 My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. The rooms were comfortable, peacefully quiet and spotlessly clean, we both had 2 lovely nights sleep. 😴 We arranged to meet our daughter and her boyfriend, for lunch, on our second day’s stay. The food here is cooked to perfection and tastes simply amazing! I opted for the roast chicken, and wasn’t disappointed. I was served a large breast of chicken which was both flavoursome and juicy, accompanied by roasties, which were piping hot, crunchy and just perfectly cooked. It’s very hard to find ‘perfect roasties’ anywhere these days! The selection of vegetables were also really tasty/not over cooked. The stuffing had a gorgeous homemade taste, with so much flavour and the gravy was so tasty and simply was finished the dish! The service was amazing and Zena (the manageress) is such a lovely lady, who clearly values all her staff. They all speak so highly of her and she work’s so hard to help her staff with their duties, there’s such good teamwork. Nothing was ever too much trouble, she made sure my family and I had a memorable dining experience and we can’t wait to go back there again soon. Thank you so much, Zena and thank you to all of your lovely staff. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Love & kind regards, Julie &...

See update at end

Currently one of my favourite local eateries, the setting is nice, the food and service are both good. I would personally like to see a regular red meat pie on the menu, but the chicken, ham and leek pie I had the other day was very nice all-the-same. A bit more variety could widen its appeal, but then it depends what the desired audience is.

The bar area can get a bit noisy if you're sitting there whilst a party is waiting to be seated as the floors are tiled and the sound can resonate somewhat, but most of the time it's fine. It is preferable to be seated away from the bar area in one of the two other main areas or up in the gallery.

The staff are pleasant and attentive. Only on one occasion a few months ago did the service slip a little (accompanied by a below-average dessert of bakewell tart that has since been removed from the menu), but if I'm honest, most places tend to have an occasional off-day, and the Hare and Hounds has been very good ever since, so I will continue to go back there.

UPDATE (2017): I have knocked a star off, and may even have considered knocking 2 off. Had 2 bad meals in a row, and friends have reported the same. Things seem to have changed and the service has become erratic, and the food is not up to its usual standard. Have started trying other...

We stayed with a group of friends for two nights as parts of a Lincolnshire driving weekend. The Inn was very popular on both nights, (full in both the resteruant and accomodation), with locals and travellers like us. The Inn was comfortable, not noisey as it is more restaraunt than pub. Accommodation was in the converted former stable block. We had seen comments about the size/ configuration of the ensuite bathrooms attached to first floor rooms, all I can say was this is a very old coaching Inn and I think they did a pretty reasonable job of squeezing in the baths and overhead showers into the eves. Downstairs rooms, if yoiu are tall or wide ... not an issue. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean, We ate both nights in the restaraunt, menu was varied and portion size huge. Very good vaule and service. There is an E-charging point in the car park which was very easy to use.

An absolute gem! The Hare and Hounds in Fulbeck is such a cute and charming place with a lovely romantic atmosphere—perfect for a date night or any special occasion. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the service was truly top tier from start to finish. The food was absolutely amazing, beautifully presented and full of flavour. The restaurant itself was spotless, including the toilets, which were clean and well-maintained. There’s plenty of outdoor seating for sunny days, and the large car park makes it super convenient. A wonderful place to relax, enjoy great food, and make lasting memories. Highly recommend!

Great place to stay, I have to stay overnight when I deliver to the north in my transit van - parking it was good. The village is nice, went for a longish walk - very pretty area with nice old church next door. Room was great, dinner was great (steak and ale pie), breakfast great - just ordered (see pic). Excellent friendly service ( I don’t usually write reviews). Got VAT invoice no problem - will def stay here again x. I sell hand made art exhibition panels for galleries schools and colleges by the way ‘Connect Exhibitions’ - if anyone is interested x
