The Mariners Galley — Restaurant in South Norfolk

Three of us went to the Tastes of the World bistro night last Wednesday. Lovely friendly greeting and, after we had been seated, within a few minutes three types of Crostini appeared for us to get started. These were a great start to what ended up as probably the best food experience we've had. Thai fishcakes and chicken enchiladas arrived The Thai fishcakes were the best I've had along with the homemade sweet chilli chutney, the Enchiladas arrived with homemade Harrisa which had a lovely kick. Then came a palate cleansing lemon sorbet. The mains arrived, a lemon and dill coated cod with beautifully cooked vivid greens along with the lamb tagine, lovely light flavourful cous cous and handmade flatbreads. For me the Thai fishcakes and the lamb tagine were the stars of the night but the other dishes were amazing too. Dessert followed, by now personally I was struggling I had eaten so much. An apple crumble surprise with an Eton Mess looking but more like cheesecake tasting fool. These were both delicious and I ate them knowing I was near bursting but it was too good to save for later. Amy and Glenn the owners came out to chat after and they are both friendly and modest. They are serving dishes that could hold their own anywhere. We now need to try the cafe side of things after this great experience but I can't wait for another Bistro night. Oh I forgot to add, this was only £30 and you are welcome to take your own wine or beer as they are...

Had my first visit here today meeting some old work friends, including Glen's wife Amy. I had one of the meals off the specials board, Chinese BBQ chicken with salad, coleslaw and potato salad 😋 absolutely lovely and plentiful although I did have to make some room to sample the lovely carrot cake too 😁. Glen and Ryan were very friendly and welcoming and the café is excellent value for money, can't wait to visit again 😁....

First visit here today. Delicious birthday lunch with my daughter. Staff put balloons,banner & party napkins at our table. We had the chilli with grated cheese on top & the chicken,mushroom,rice in a garlic cream sauce.Large portions. 2 pots of tea. Staff extremely welcoming,friendly & polite. Very clean.Excellent value for money....
