First can i give you a bit of background information So last Sunday we booked in advance and went to our usual place in Dereham, Norfolk for a Sunday carvery but were not told that the ovens to cook the meat in were broken and they did not have a carvery on .... thinking this was a last minute thing we accepted it and ordered off the normal menu spending Ā£106 with 2 drinks each and NO desert because we were told at 1hr 15mins our table was booked again and we had to leave omg 😲 .... we also found out later that the oven large enough to cook the meat šŸ– had not been working for the last 7 weeks ...... (yes 7 weeks).... we felt a bit cheated not being told earlier when we booked ..... so following a recommendation we booked The Village Inn at Little Melton and it's now our Sunday Roast 100 % .... The Sunday Carvery was hot and plenty and tasted amazing šŸ‘ The Rocky Road Sundae šŸØ was amazing .... we spent just over Ā£100 including 2 drinks each for 5 of us which i think is very good value but more importantly the atmosphere & service was excellent, everyone was so helpful especially the barman who was so friendly and a special mention to Nikki who looked after us so well but tbh so did all the staff and we had a wonderful Sunday carvery well done šŸ‘ we were so impressed we have booked for next Sunday already..... please don't think we're always eating out on a Sunday it's another family affair 7 of us this time .... sorry about must first picture I was enjoying the carvery too much and forgot to take a picture šŸ“ø from the start lol šŸ˜† Only suggestion would be a vegan ice cream šŸ¦ for the desert please šŸ™ šŸ˜‹.

Ordered via JustEat at 6pm as their menu looked good. The eta delivery time kept being pushed back and back. Now I understand it’s a busy time of the year, but 2 hours from order to being sent out? Turned up after 8. I tried to hold out hope that it would be as good as advertised, but sadly that met the same standard as the delivery time. The burger was luke warm, the bun was soggy, the two bits of beef were the type I’d expect to find in a cheap lay-by burger van from a bulk wholesaler. The chips were stone dead cold, and once reheating them they had a strange almost greasy aftertaste? - Ā£12 for that… The pizza pin wheels were stone cold as well, and seemed a bit dry. This wouldn’t have been so bad if I actually received the garlic dip promised but clearly after waiting 2 hours I wasn’t worthy of it. The sticky toffee pudding also followed the same standard. Absolutely stone cold and dry as a rock. In the last photo is how much of said meal I managed to eat before I just gave up with it… Ā£25 total, id of gotten a better meal from McDonald’s for cheaper and probably faster… It would seem there’s a trend of poor standards and slow service as the two hours wait gave me plenty of time to look into reviews, and yet I held out so much hope only to be disappointed. If this was what I was given inside the restaurant I’d be complaining and asking the meal to be refunded. I truly held out good hopes that if the takeaway was nice then I’d be adding the restaurant to my eat out spots, but sadly I won’t be ordering again or ever visiting

I ordered a takeaway online too collect. For 3 people it came too £55, which I thought was resonable for what we had ordered. Collected it and drove home which was about 15mins away, the food was still hot which was good. We then opened the food and that's where the disappointment started. The burgers were bigger than the bun, which was soggy amd had old lettuce in it. The bottom had pretty much disappeared which made it horrible too eat. The portions of fries were very small, we had about 15 fries each. The calzones we ordered were both burnt and the pots of dip were pointless, as there was hardly any dip in them. For the amount we spent on the meal it was very disappointing! I was looking forward too trying this restaurant out because we'd heard good reviews! The service was prompt and it arrived on time which was great, but after trying it I definately won't be ordering a takeaway again. I thought it was poor quality and it didn't taste the best either. Im sorry but I really feel like it was a waste of my money. Thanks

Lovely place. Foods good, and the environment is friendly.....just like all the staff.

I was served by a lovely lady at my table today (17-07-24....14.00pm at table 66) called Lynn. She did everything possible to make my dining there an enjoyable one. I have been served by her before, and can applaud her professional performance every time. A very consistent performance, and high standard of service both today.....and on previous visits. Big parties or small.....shes very courteous , and unflappable. Even if you dine alone, she still makes sure you're comfortable at your table, and is always willing to provide further assistance. 10/10

Same goes for a gentleman called Lee......he also provides a very high standard of friendly service. He's often on hand.....and even when super busy....(Which is often from what I've seen)....he always stops and says hi.....and enquires on assistance you may need....10/10

The young lady on the bar today, is also very capable, and when a large party arrives she's straight on it. So concerning waiting times.....the service is quite quick. I can't fault it. She's very professional and helpful, and even before she started her shift on one occasion....assisted me with WI-FI access. Always has a polite and respectful demeanour. Unfortunately, i do not know the young lady's name to credit her the due credit she deserves. 10/10

Highly recommended. Dining and bar areas very clean, regularly maintained. Assorted sizes of tables for all parties, and quite comfy seats. Cutlery is clean, and tables are soon cleared and sanitized for other guests. Theres a large TV on the wall, and a couple of fruit machines tucked away. I cant answer for the children's play area outside......you'd need to ask someone whos a kid......but i know its there for them. Theres outside tables too, with umbrellas. The whole establishment is spacious, and clean, and well presented.

Theres NO loitering at the bar, so its easy to get served ( thats not a house rule, but just my personal observation). Also....you DON'T see staff texting and what not, while you wait for their attention.

Staff enquire if there's any thing else you need, and are happy to provide. Nothings too much trouble. They're also NOT constantly loitering round trying to hurry you up. They're very conscious of food allergies ....and ALWAYS ask before you order, so there is a customer safety level thats there. Ive been in regular lately, but they STILL ask me.

Ive never had a bad meal there. Its NOT a place for loud music, swearing, or fighting....so theres nothing anti social about the place, or the people who frequent it. Ive seen families, children, and coach parties of senior citizens as guests....so that should tell you the calibre of customer you'll encounter. Everyone is polite, well mannered, and respectful....on both sides of the bar. You can order from the table, via a barcode on the menu too which is handy.

Theres only one entrance IN and a separate exit out of the car park.....so you might find your entry blocked by a delivery lorry. Cars can be stagger parked, and driving round the lorry can be a bit delicate as it brings you into the exit lane. Thats the only thing i can...

UPDATED THANK YOU FOR THE RESPONSE. DUE TO THE IMMEDIATE ESCALATION OF THIS IMPORTANT MATTER I HAVE UPGRADED YOU TO 5 STARS.

TIP TOP CUSTOMER SERVICE 10/10 Petition to Reinstate the Salted Caramel & White Chocolate Chouxnut at StoneHouse Restaurant

To the Management and Culinary Team at StoneHouse Restaurant,

We, as loyal patrons of StoneHouse, have always looked forward to the exquisite flavours, attention to detail, and culinary creativity that have made your establishment a cherished dining experience. However, we were dismayed to discover that one of our favorite items, the Salted Caramel & White Chocolate Chouxnut, has been unceremoniously removed from the menu and replaced with a lackluster, custard-filled alternative.

The Salted Caramel & White Chocolate Chouxnut was a standout dessert, praised not only for its balanced flavor profile but for its unparalleled texture. The combination of rich salted caramel with the delicate sweetness of white chocolate, paired with the perfect choux pastry, created a dessert experience that was truly memorable. This new alternative lacks any distinctive quality that made the original chouxnut so beloved. It’s soggy and falls short on the flavor front, leaving us with a dessert that simply does not compare.

Moreover, the original chouxnut was the ideal light dessert, perfectly suited to follow your famously hearty carvery dinners. With only 350 calories, it allowed diners to enjoy a satisfying sweet treat without the heaviness of more calorie-laden options. This delicate balance made it not just delicious, but a sensible choice for those who wanted a light finish after a filling meal.

We respectfully urge you to listen to your patrons and bring back the Salted Caramel & White Chocolate Chouxnut to the StoneHouse menu. Its absence is felt, and the replacement has only intensified our appreciation for what we have lost.

Thank you for considering this request from a family of dedicated customers, who look forward to the return of a dessert that deserves its rightful place on your menu.

Sincerely, The Applegate Family

Ps. please take this review in the tongue in cheek way it is intended, but nonetheless, pleeeeeeeeease put the original Chouxnut back on...

Terrible.... It took my husband 15 minutes to get served for a drink and when he returned to the table, he stated that he had asked for a blackcurrant and lemonade for me, but the server had given him a blackcurrant squash. When he queried, she said she had given him what he'd ordered - she hadn't. As he had been away from the table so long, he just brought the drink back. I tasted it and there was no flavour as so weak. I took back to the bar and asked her to change to what I'd ordered, and even though she did, she didn't apologise or utter one word to me. She then proceeded to pour the squash into another glass, and then used the same glass again for my new drink. We were told there was a 20 minute wait for food (we had ordered a pizza for our daughter), so we waited the full 20 minutes before getting up to get our carveries. We then waited at the carvery station for nearly 10 minutes before a chef appeared to serve us. Our daughter then proceeded to sit there for another 10 minutes before I queried where her pizza was. They apologised and said it would be 2 minutes. We sat there for another 7-8 minutes, before I queried again. I was then advised that they hadn't even put the pizza in. I returned to the table and stopped eating, as my daughter (10) didn't want to be eating on her own. I left it 5 minutes before returning to the pizza station and it was just sitting on the top waiting to be brought to our table, even though they said they would bring straight over. I took the pizza back to our table and the proceeded to eat my now cold carvery with my daughter. There was staff wondering about aimlessly, but no hurry to clear tables or deliver food. As we left, we heard another group say they had been waiting over half an hour for their pizzas, and 2 of their group had finished their meals. Throughout the whole experience, I received one apology, which is appalling. I didn't complain last night as by the time we had eaten and finished, we needed to get our daughter home to bed. It was a spur of the moment decision to go to The Village Inn, and one I wish I hadn't...
