We visited with friends after reading the positive reviews and I can’t understand how our experience differs so much from the reviews on TA. It’s been a long while since I’ve had such bad food. ||The starter of Falafel was dry and the main of chicken burger was almost inedible. The plate was full of deep fried dry chicken, dry bread bun, salad and coleslaw but none of it was good. This pub needs to stop the massive potions and serve fresh cooked food that is flavoursome rather than deep fried pre prepared. My husband had the pie which was heated meat filling served in a dish with a puff pastry warmed lid placed onto the dish. It definitely wasn’t a pie! When he asked the waiter if it could be served with mash instead of chips the waiter responded that was probably too much to ask of the kitchen staff as they were busy. ||It’s been years since we were last at The Perch even though we only live a couple of miles away - it will be years before we consider visiting again. There are much better places to eat and drink in this...

There were several places to eat throughout & the restaurant itself is large, clean, bright & airy; it’s nicely sectioned for privacy & comfort. We were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food & presentation which also arrived very quickly. The waitress, owner & chef paid good attention to detail & asked several times if everything was OK. The food was reasonably priced. It is a lovely Inn to eat, drink or stay in (we can’t comment on the accommodation). It has a large car park & plenty of tables out side to enjoy the...
Read moreWe based ourselves at The Perch and Pike for a three night mini break. We were warmly welcomed by Linda and Jamie and their friendly efficient team (and a flask of fresh milk and jar of homemade shortbread in our room).||We had a most comfortable stay with excellent dinners and scrumptious breakfasts as well as the picnic lunch they kindly prepared for us. Jamie gave us ample warning that the kitchen was closed on the Saturday night for live music and food. It was a perfect evening for relaxing with a pint or two in the lovely garden enjoying the music and delicious baps (especially the rare beef) and meeting the local regulars.||We are booked to return in...
