Extremely poor. Firstly may i state i have worked in the food industry my whole working life, and hate complaining as i have my fair share of "complaining/awkward customers", but felt i needed to review Harleys. We booked a table for 4 people for our kids birthday. They turned 19 and 15 this week. Table was booked for 6.45pm. So not what i class as the "busy period". Waiter showed us to our table. Another waitress came to take drinks order. Drinks arrived a good while later. We ordered food. This took over 40 minutes to arrive. I expected quicker service as it was nearly empty, only 6 tables taken. In the mean time, a couple arrived, asking for a table. To my disbelief, they had brought their dog with them. Which was allowed to sit on the bench seating at the table the whole time. Health and hygiene would surely have a field day with this. In all my years waiting on tables in pubs and restaurants, this has never been allowed unless a guide dog. I even managed to take photo of it sitting at the table. I expected better in what is meant to be a "up market" restaurant. Service was appalling. After we finished our mains, we ordered another round of drinks. My partner ordered a coffee. My youngest ordered a coke, my 19 yr old tried to order a cocktail, but was refused as didn't have ID with her. Even with both parents with her. I can understand this to a certian degree, but then the waiter then said she could have a glass of wine?? In the end she settled for a lemonade as really couldn't be bothered anymore. I ordered a cocktail. The coffee and two soft drinks arrived. My cocktail was left on the bar for a further 15 minutes. After trying several very unsuccessful times to get someones attention, i gave up. It was only when our deserts were brought to us that i could finally ask for my drink. With several members of staff on, we didn't get served by the same person twice. So no one knew what the other one was doing. We found the staff very unprofessional, standing at the bar in a group, talking. This was when i tried to get someones attention, regarding my cocktail. They looked up at me, and ignored me. This was our second visit to Harleys. The first was for Valentine's. It was busy then so we expected the staff to be rushed a little. Tonight they had no excuse. The only time the staff showed any interest was when we asked for the bill. The food was ok, but the staff let the whole expreience down. We left, and for the first time ever, we left no tip for the staff. We will never...

People are so quick to leave a “bad review” but not as forthcoming to give credit where credits due…so here is our review of our recent experience of Harleys smokehouse and its staff on the 24/7/21

The Service: So this part of any experience is what makes it isn’t it?!…and honestly we couldn’t have been happier with the customer service we received! A huge shout out to the FANTASTIC staff at Harleys with a special mention of Jess and Milly who went above and beyond with great interaction with all our guests and the children, quick and efficient bar service, impressive and competent cocktail making skills and the overall organisation and attention to detail was really impressive!!

The Venue: Harleys is the perfect setting, when the sun is shining all the bifold doors and windows were open basically integrating the indoor and outdoor areas. The outside tiered grounds has seating which is well maintained and very pretty with lovely areas to wander around and explore…great for little ones. The indoor area including the toilets was exceptionally clean, tidy and well maintained with a modern yet sophisticated and traditional decor. The sound system was also fantastic and enable us to effortlessly play ‘easy listening/background’ music during our meal time then when we went into the evening we turned up the volume changing the atmosphere with clear surround sound music on all levels. All the glass floods the place with light…it is such a pretty venue.

The food: between us all there wasn’t one item not ordered from the smokehouse menu, every single dish was delicious…the steak was perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth, the chicken was succulent and perfectly flavoured, even the veggie option was great. The taste, variety, freshness, presentation and portion size was honestly the best we’ve had in a long time. Also need to mention that everything was served with speed and efficiency from the kitchen…compliments to the chefs!!

Honestly…credit where credit is due, Harleys your staff are your biggest asset! Girls you made our day better than what we expected, you should be so proud of yourself and I hope the “big boss” reads this review and can give feedback to the staff members we’ve mentioned. Keep up the fantastic work…what a great job you’re doing especially in these hard and uncertain Covid times!! We’re now your new faithful customers who will be coming back to you time and time again. See you all again soon, The...

Having heard about this place on BBC News extending the #eatouttohelpout promoton in September, I went over this afternoon to try it. The restaurant is situated inside the beautiful Dunsley Hall. The weather weren't the greatest but it didn't ruin the experience. It was easy to park here due to the large car park at the back of the restaurant.

The restaurant has a very chic and modern feel to it; incorporating 3 areas consisting of the main restaurant, over 18s bar and the gelato area. For today however, I was situated in the restaurant. The restaurant was fairly busy and this is no surprise. The gelato part is made directly on site so you are sure to have great ice cream here.

Independent steakhouse always fascinate me as because I love Miller and Carter so much its a breath of fresh air to try something new from my usual affair. There is an extensive menu on offer and drinks are reasonably priced.

Today I've opted for the below:

Starter - Bourbon Glazed Pork Belly Bites I could taste the smokiness and bourbon from the texture of the pork from the first bite. These were gorgeous. It hit a good sweet spotted before the main. The salad and bread which was warm were nice accompaniments to this.

Main - Cajun and Coconut Chicken "Swinger" It was definitely swinging when it was delivered 🤣 The skewer itself and the meat were cooked well and very tender. The fries were crisp and salted just right. Can't fault this really.

Dessert - simply 2 scoops of their homemade gelato Very rich and creamy in flavour! Malteser and Nutella ❤

Cutlery was a little marked but a bit of tissue cleaned that away. In regards to the service, initially I was greeted and the staff member went to find a table. A little confusion as the staff member asked me to stand at the bar and wait whilst another could not see why and got me a table straight away. Other than this, service was warm and friendly throughout.

Covid 19 principles were in operation with a one way in and one way out system and hand sanitiser readily avaliable with staff observed to be wearing masks. Tables were appropriately distanced in the restaurant.

I would recommend and...

Ive been meaning to post this for a while and eventually getting round to it. We came here for Fathers day lunch back in June. I came here for a Wedding and liked the look of the smokehouse so wanted to try it out. Our table was ready when we arrived and we were seated. The waitress took the drinks order and it took ages for our drinks to arrive. When they did, the food order was taken. Food didn't take too long but unfortunately, some meals were better than others. My beef brisket was really fatty and so was my husbands steak. The brisket was quite tough and didn't fall apart like it should. Chips were nice though. My eldest daughters fajitas were really good and my youngest daughters burger was OK. We ordered another round of drinks which also took a while to arrive. When we finished eating, we asked for the bill as we wanted to sit outside for while. The bill didn't arrive. We asked again and the bill still didn't arrive so we moved outside anyway. After about an hour of sitting outside, we noticed one of the waitresses start to panic and tell another waitress that we had left without paying. The waitress who had served us then decided to bring the bill over to us! Unfortunately, as lovely as the surroundings and venue were, we wouldn't return.

** Dog friendly inside and out ** I have always given this place 5 stars as we come most weekends for either breakfast, lunch or dinner. We turned up today and they were busy and had no indoor tables left ( which is fine as I love to see local businesses thriving) we were offered outdoor seating, as we walked through there were about 40% empty tables ( maybe these were pre booked). We sat outside for 35 minutes and was not even offered a drink. 3 people knew we were there, the guy who sat us out side and helped manoeuvre the parasol so the dog didn’t burn, the girl who came to clean the table and a chef that walked passed us twice. So we left :-( Come on Harley’s.... don’t treat your regulars like this!! Been here a few times now. The food is always absolutely amazing, quick service by friendly staff. Nice layout of tables, not over crowed like some places. Dogs welcome inside and out. Always nice to have a little wonder outside to visit the 4 Alpacas in the field at the top. They are also in the process of adding a kiddies play area.
