Came here last night as a group of 6 (4 adults, 2 children).
Love the country pub feel and the pub felt very cosy and welcoming.
Service was good throughout the evening and didn't have to wait long for the food.
We ordered;
Mega fox burger Steak sizzler Salmon sizzler 2 x chicken fajitas Homemade cottage pie Cheesy garlic bread Chocolate fudge cake Brownie Sunday
All the food was amazing! Hot and fresh and good sized portions.
The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the 'two for one' menu prices.
It's not 2 for 1 when the prices for 1 meal are so expensive.
A lasagne is priced at £27!
Yes, you get 2 meals for that price but I don't understand why they just don't have a normal priced menu.
It also doesn't work well for some families. For example, my daughters are aged 4 and 11. My eldest is too old for a kids menu now so orders from the main menu. This is where the 2 for 1 doesn't work as my youngest has something from the kids menu. That means that one of us would be left paying extortionate prices for our meal as we wouldn't qualify for the 2 for 1.
So we had to order an adults burger for my 4 year old so we didn't end up paying over £20 for a cottage pie and then having to pay for the kids meal on top! Luckily my daughter wanted a burger. If she had wanted nuggets, fishfingers etc we wouldn't have been able to make this work.
Overall, we had a lovely time, but I really think the menu prices need revising to enable everyone to have...
Read moreHaving been for a ride to Bridgnorth we decided to pop into the Fox for a Thursday lunch. It was a nice warm day, lots of people on the patio so we hoped to get a table inside easy enough not realising it would be quite so busy on a Thursday. The lady that greeted us asked if we had booked, on being told no we were passing and didn't expect it to be quite so busy she said, and I quote "I will see if I have a table, it's always busy, it's not because it's half term and nice weather, it's always busy and this just adds to the busyness." She then sort of waved us aside to wait to talk to the next people. She left us standing while she sorted other people out, even though I use a walking stick and standing is a problem so I sat on the nearest stool. She got us a table after about ten minutes quite ungracious lying and I never saw her smile once. She made us feel unwelcome and a nuisance. The food is over priced, £16 for a salad, even if it is on the two for one page is disgusing. We had a lunch time meal and only stayed because we were hungry. The other staff were friendly it was just the one lady who was unwelcoming but it made us feel in the wayear. We thought the food OK but no better in fact not as good as I can cook myself. We won't return. Shame .... it used to be...
Read moreVisited The Shipley Inn for the first time on a sunny afternoon and decided to sit outside to enjoy the weather. Service was fine, and drinks were nice – we also didn’t have to wait too long for food, which was appreciated.
Unfortunately, the experience quickly went downhill due to a serious wasp problem. Within minutes of sitting down, we had wasps landing on our table, and my husband was actually stung. We moved to the other side of the garden hoping it would help, but it made no difference – wasps continued to land on us and in our drinks (including one cider that had four wasps land in it).
We ended up rushing our food and drinks just to get out of there, which completely ruined what should have been a relaxing lunch. To make matters worse, as we were leaving, we noticed several fake wasp nests hanging up on the building – presumably to attract wasps. This was incredibly frustrating, as we weren’t warned about this at any point.
At the very least, staff should inform customers of the wasp issue before seating them outside. If we had known, we’d have chosen to sit indoors or elsewhere entirely.
We spent £72 on what turned out to be an uncomfortable, stressful meal and won’t...
