I can't comment on food and hospitality as the pub was closed upon our arrival 'on spec' (googling for opening is suggested to avoid disappointment), this pub which is located at the boundary crossroads between Shropshire and Staffordshire. This makes it an important place for students of British medieval history as it was a location known to the Welsh hero Owain Glyndwr and Iolo Goch in the 15th century (and possibly Myrddin earlier), as a sacred spot mentioned in Welsh prophecy. It was to be the place where he intended to confront the English, fulfil the ancient Welsh prophecies and establish a boundary between a greater Wales and England. So it gets 5 stars from me for location alone. 👍

Well what a charming pub with lovely freshly cooked food and well kept real ale. My wife and I have had a delicious meal with a Friday special of two mains for £20, incredible value! A smashing atmosphere and delightful chat with locals and the licensee Amy. We thoroughly recommend visiting this cracking country pub.

It's not a bad place but bit chilly for us sorry to say. I had the pie which was ok but not amazing but lots of it and large portion of chips.

We came to eat but decided not to after sitting in the garden for a few minutes. As we walked out to the garden with our drinks we were confronted by the landlady's washing drying on the decking. The garden was a bit neglected and contained a rusty rubbish bin and has a really noisy cooling fan which made conversation difficult.

We tried the dining room only to find a vaccum cleaner left out in the middle. Decided to eat somewhere else.

We are sure the food is lovely and the prices reasonable but this place is let down by a lack of care and attention to the...

Was tempted to stop yesterday and stayed in the beer garden which has been done up nicely. Unlike some other pubs I have been to lateley they are complying to the Covid-19 requirements, have a sanitiser upon entry, offer table service and take your contact details before they serve you. Disappointing was the choice of Lager which was Carling only and I would suggest to change the menu and offer some more typical pub type snacks such as steak sandwiches or a choice of...
