I took my husbands to the Centurion club St Albans for his birthday lunch. We had been saying for while that we must try it so what a great occasion to try it out. On arrival we were taken through to our table. Many people were there for afternoon tea. The place looked very nice.
Alarm bells should have been ringing when the waiter brought over the different types of tea and I said we had booked for lunch. He then brought us the menu but no drinks menu.
We ordered our meal. My husband had the scallops. Not anything to right home about, sauce was like water. I had the mackerel. It was half a fish slapped on some salad leaves. We finished our starter and the plates were taken away and within a few minutes our main was placed in front of us. Where to start. We both ordered the smoked Hake, game chips, courgette fritters with black garlic aioli. The fritters looked liked two burned bananas and the hake was looking very sad for itself. It was over cooked, did not look fresh or flaky, as it should have been. No chips came with the meal when they should have, instead we were given samphire, which was very woody, I nearly choked on it. Apparently this was a garnish
We called the waiter over and explained why we thought the dish was awful. He did ask if we wanted to re-order but to be frank I was not confident the next meal would be any better. We just asked for the bill. He did take off the drinks and we just paid for starters.
Would we go back again, not sure. Why would we pay good money for sub standard food when we can go to Prae Wood for a lovely meal at...
Read moreShocking. Just shocking. We went as a group of three and one of the group ended up eating McDonald’s!! Three fillet steaks ordered. One medium rare and two medium. Two came out medium and one medium well, oh well that can’t be so bad. Only one Is literally not edible, the knife won’t go through the steak. The lovely waitress asks if all is well, no this steak is inedible. Oh I’m sorry let me take that back. She comes back and says the chef is cooking again. Not 5 minutes later the manager comes over and asks if we want another steak cooked! We say we thought it was being cooked, he says no I just want to check that’s want you want! To which we say well yes we thought that is what was happening and he still looks a little iffy? It’s clear he doesn’t want to cook another steak! We say just leave it, the other two guests had by now finished their food and the night had been ruined. So then comes the bill. We are told that they have removed one steak from the bill, the steak which was not even touched as it could not be cut!!!! How very nice!! The manger never came back to apologise, the poor waiter did his best but what could he do when management clearly didn’t care enough. I would never ever go back here.literally one hour of us went home starving and ordered McDonald’s from Uber eats. If restaurants are going to survive they need a...
Read moreDear Centurion Club Team,
What can we say, just wow what a venue! I truly had the most amazing baby shower on Sunday and your team were fantastic. When we came to see the venue with Lena who is just amazing we knew it would be the perfect setting. I was then told to leave the planning to my sister & my hubby who out did themselves with your support and event management.
The food, service, set up and pre coordination has been excellent and we would highly recommend the venue and we will definitely be back.
The guests have had only positive things to say about the venue, food and service and honestly it was just the most perfect day.
A HUGE thank you to Jonathan who truly looked after us all so well, he is a credit to your venue and really knows what customer service is. Please convey our sincere thanks again to him he is a true gem.
Happy for you to use this feedback on your website or to show future clients. If you need us to fill in any official forms please do let me know and I can get this sorted for you.
Many thanks and see you soon Radhika,...
