Thompsons Close Cafe — Restaurant in St Albans

Perfect little family-run cafe with it's own personality and lovely economic food with great coffee. When I visit here, I always know I am going to get a great coffee made just how I like it, and I know the food will be delicious. It has a good rounded menu based on Italian cuisine cafe-culture food, and very importantly, a great selection of cakes. You know it's good when you have talk yourself down from that gorgeous looking cake with your name on it. You can trust Gusto for a good light or hearty breakfast, lunchtime paninis and bowls of pasta if you need a proper refuelling. It's the perfect vibe for catching up with friends, or if you need want space and need to attack your laptop (free WiFi, with a few power points). In summer. they have tables outside, and is a great little escape from the main bustle of the High Street. This family run eatery must get a 100% full solid 5 stars on all counts, and the bonus is that it is one of the more economically priced haunts...

The best coffee I’ve had in a long time!

Went for breakfast and ordered the Full Breakfast. Everything on the plate was delicious! The sausages and bacon were very tasty, the egg was well cooked and the beans and tomato were both great. Even the Irish butter and the toast was tasty.

I had two black coffee’s which were honestly brilliant.

Also treated myself to a muffin which might have been raspberry and white choc? Although I could be mistaken. Regardless, it was really great too.

Just had a wonderful brunch at Thompsons Café and it was such a lovely experience from start to finish. The owner was incredibly friendly, accommodating, and kind. We had a buggy with us, and I really appreciated the help getting in and out—something that might seem small, but makes a huge difference when you're out with children.

For anyone with food allergies, the team here is exceptionally diligent and understanding, which made me feel completely at ease when ordering.
