We had booked a table the day before but given the table right by the gents . Table was sticky and we kept joking are elbows were sticking to it . Had scampi and the smothered chicken . Really enjoyed those . I’d been waiting to order the salted caramel sundae but it was chocolate ice cream , chocolate brownie ( which I don’t like ) I wanted to get a chance to ask if I’d read it wrong but we were left for about 25 mins . We wanted coffee ect . However we cleared our sundae glasses and drinks glasses and put them on the station . We wanted another drink ect but the waitress just grabbed them off the side and gave us a dirty look. We waited a bit longer to get a coffee which turned into wanting the bill to leave . Three waitresses were doing a dance routine at the bar instead of waiting on so we knew we weren’t going to get served and that was it . Arrived at the till to be greeting by a lovely lady who had just walked in. Looked like the manager . We could have walked out without paying no one would have noticed . We paid with no tip (hate doing that ) but walked out saying “Not going back there “ Which is a shame because it’s normally bang on with everything . We are both in catering so we just put it down to a bad day . It’s normally great that’s why we booked . Have returned tonight as a friend wanted to go . Great service , great food , great cookies !!!! So you were right about it not being your normal service that we had . I did read the menu wrong for the salted caramel brownie sundae . I think I just stopped reading at salted caramel so apologies . Will be returning . Just wish we had more change for the tip . Thanks for a lovely evening .

This was our first time visiting this pub. We travelled from Bolton as we had heard such great reviews and I can honestly say it didn't disappoint. We visited with friends on a Sunday so was offered the Sunday lunch menu, as well as a Specials menu. This is what I opted for. Rump of Lamb cooked perfectly pink with a salsa verde dressing, roasted baby potatoes and greens. My husband ordered the slow cooked rib of beef which literally fell off the bone. In his opinion, one of the best beef he's ever had! A side order of the Cauliflower Cheese is a must 🧀😁 Our friends also had the rib of beef and his wife the roast beef dinner. The Yorkshire puddings are huge! Service was efficient. The Malborough Sauvignon Blanc was delicious 👌 Although the portion sizes are huge we all still managed to save a little room for pudding. All 10/10. The place was quite busy, not many spare tables which always speaks volumes... Great value for money and certainly lived up to its reputation. Highly recommend and we will certainly be returning very soon.

We had Christmas lunch here this year. It was fantastic. The food , the service, everything about it was incredible. The whole team of people were incredibly professional but polite and could not do enough for us. Well done to all in particular our waitress who’s name was Jayne ( thanks for Making our Christmas Day extra special) to be honest I’m not the biggest fan of eating out on Christmas Day but I’d go here every year because it really was that special. ! A big thanks to all you should be extremely proud of yourselves. Happy new year ! 🥳

I have never been so disappointed and let down by a restaurant in all my life. We came here today 27/08/23 for a meal with my parents, husband and dog. We booked online for the table and arrived to be told anywhere in the bar. I appreciate there is.a certain section for dogs but after specifically booking a table we expected to be seated but was dismissed by the frankly rude and uninterested server. We looked for a table ourself but myself being 9 months pregnant and my mum disabled we wanted seating with support and some room. After not being able to find a table and a large table empty with a coat on 1 chair we asked the server to see if the table was free. Once again uninterested and couldn’t be bothered server went over to the table, said she didn’t know and asked a neighbouring table which also didn’t know. In this time my husband was stood next to her and this obnoxious, rude and frankly stupid individual walked over to the table and sat down. My husband in disarray looked and politely said ‘sorry this table js taken we were just asking if it was free’ she smirked and replied ‘well looked like we beat you to it’. At this point I was gobsmacked and was not about to cause a scene over a table. I have never in all my life met a more rude, foul, ridiculous individual. I told my parents to leave and my husband went outside with our dog. I went over to the server and made it very clear that we were asking about the table being clear, she knew that full well and was asking neighbouring tables to see if it was free yet then quite happily let this individual sit down, let her talk to my husband like that and refused to do no more about it. The explanation I received was that it was first come first served which I appreciate but we had booked and was being considerate not wanting to sit somewhere with a coat that we asked the staff first. I am 9 months pregnant, clearly upset by the situation and I get a ‘oh sorry’ which had absolutely no meaning behind it whatsoever. Never in all my life have I been spoken to like that and for the staff to let it happen to a family like that us absolutely disgusting. I can guarantee the 2 minutes I spent in the place will be the last 2 minutes of my life which is a shame as we go quite regularly. To the server and the individual who think it’s acceptable to act and behave in that way you should be ashamed and it was absolutely disgusting. Do...

Where to start ! Visited on 19 July for a combined retirement/birthday meal with family. Had a table booked for 7.15 pm - booked online prior to the closure for renovation. On arrival the service at the bar was so slow - about 10 minutes wait. When we eventually got our drinks, my single measure gin and tonic was in a half pint tumbler with the whole bottle of tonic poured in! Had to ask for another drink with the tonic separate so that I could use the amount I wanted. The pub was very busy and although we were given time to peruse the menu I eventually had to ask someone to take our order. When the starters arrived, there was a sharing platter for one of my sons and his girlfriend. One of the plates provided was not clean and so I brought this to the attention of the waitress - she asked if we would like a clean one! (should this really have been a question? obviously a dirty plate needs to be replaced and an apology given for the fact that it was given in the first place!) When the mains arrived, my other son's meal was wrong and by the time this was corrected we had to start eating or our food would have been cold (my husband's was not very hot to start with) - surely we should all be able to eat together! We ordered a couple of bottles of prosecco, neither of which were given an ice bucket for, even though these were evident on other tables. We were given flutes for the prosecco but the original wine glasses which the table was dressed with were never removed from the table which was now rather over-crowded with glasses as we had taken our drinks from the bar at the outset. One of my sons asked for a soft drink during the meal and I had to ask 3 times before this finally arrived. Although we had a lovely evening as we had something to celebrate, I feel more than a little let down by the service provided by the staff. Having spent the best part of £200 I expected better value for money. When I paid the bill I was asked if everything was OK - I replied saying that lots of things had not been right and quite frankly I didn't feel that I was listened to - didn't feel that 'sorry' really was enough. By this time I could not see the manager who was 'front of house' on that evening or I would have spoken to him personally. As a family we use this pub regularly but I really feel that I would have been better celebrating somewhere else on...

Normally the Bottle and Glass is my local pub and is the only pub we really go to, so finally going after months of lockdown last week in a group of 5 we was sitted at a table out side , we had no idea how to order our food so spoke to the Lady Mannager who was really rude! so after about 30 minutes of sorting the app and getting everyone food the mannager then comes out and tells us to move tables because the table we was put on is a table of 4 ( with 4 chairs) and not acceptable for  5 people even though someone had give us a spare chair,  they wanted to us sit over the far side which was full of overgrown brushes and trees with bugs flying around ( whilest this was happening another customer was complainging of the same problem) so when I spoke to the mannager and explain this is why we have asked to sit here because the right hand side has been left and not been cleaned and the brushes have not been cut and I dont want bugs in my dinner she then refused to deal with us, and told us to leave no one was sitting next to us we was still 2 meters apart from everyone and two tables down had 7 people on a 4 chair table but we got asked to leave didnt make sense! to be honest i will never go back to the bottle and glass after my experience!!

if they have the right-hand side for 5 people or more at least get a local garden to sort the mess out and also give your members off staff a brush to clean up! you can not expect customers to sit there if you're not willing to pull your weight to get this clean! The manager was an utter disgrace, and the fella with the red hair the way they were speaking to there customers was vile! personally I will never go back to this pub ever again! and after speaking to a few other people on the same day said the same thing, i wouldn't recommend  going...
