Café Paps — Restaurant in Stafford

I recently visited this café and while it was fairly busy, it wasn’t overly crowded. Unfortunately, we ended up waiting nearly 15 minutes and walked out empty handed. During that time, several staff members walked past us with Just Eat orders without so much as a hello, an apology for the wait, or any acknowledgment at all.

I completely understand that small businesses are juggling a lot, especially when managing in-person and delivery orders but basic manners and communication cost nothing. A simple “We’ll be with you shortly” would have made all the difference.

It’s a shame, because I really wanted to support a local spot, but the service left us feeling quite overlooked and we took our business elsewhere! As new residents in Stafford, this was not a great impression.

NB: this is not a reflection or review of their food (not rated this on the review) the food looked great, but customer service just was the worst I’ve experienced in a long time.

Update: the owner clearly feels a sign saying the wait can be up to 30 mins excuses politeness of staff by their response, yes it was there, my feedback was regarding basic manners and customer service not the wait as we did see that as we entered “the wait may be 30 mins” I assumed it ment to EAT not just...

This place was brilliant but has now changed hands and deteriorated rapidly. I used to go about twice a week since the place opened, but not anymore. I returned a lukewarm sandwich a few months ago, so thought I'd give them another chance, big mistake! Having asked for my bacon and sausage to be reheated for more than 20 seconds, the young girl with black hair who wipes her hands rather than wash them, started to shake her head at me lol. I said not to, so she chucked my bap down and refused to serve me, so Paula stepped in, thank God! Jock and Paula help at the weekend, so swerve during the week if you don't want cold sausages, translucent bacon or a meat tasting cheese sandwich! The Manager didn't bat an eyelid too. The place used to be busy, but was dead, so says it all for me. Never...

On a recent stay over in Stafford we stumbled upon cafe paps and decided to try. Was very disappointed. The cafe was cold and made even colder by a very rude member of staff who decided to leave the door open while she went about her errands and when we politely asked if we could shut the door we were nothing but snapped at. This member of staff then proceeded to shout at other members of staff for leaving the door to the cloack room unlocked. The food was under and over cooked. The gentleman who served us was polite enough but when we raised concerns he blamed the cooking equipment. Maybe he could have pre warned us with regards to this and we could have visited again and had a better experience. From the cold metal chairs to the cold custom service we recived we will not be visiting...
