Been for afternoon tea to celebrate a special birthday. I have had many afternoon teas and this one was very disappointing for £25 each. Some of the bread was dry as it had been out to long . Scones ok but had better, cocktails were good but waited so long for service. They forgot some decaf tea and other drinks to the point one of my friends had to go and ask. There is no excuses as the place wasn’t full. One member of staff was friendly but every-time he leaned over the body odours wasn’t very pleasant. He smelt of sweat. We asked if they could clear the table They took ages to do this . A young female waitress with large false eyelashes came and started cleaning the table . She dropped some things on the floor by my friend who was on crutches. Not apologies. My friend tried to help her and got the most filthy of looks . The staff need to be more polite. The location and the scenery is beautiful. While waiting for our lifts we went upstairs to the new bar. The waitress there was excellent, pleasant and polite. We paid the bill and they took a few drinks off the bill to apologise. This place is suppose to be a 5 star ⭐️ experience and yes I’ve used the spa several times and it’s lovely but the service and staff in the restaurant need training on curtesy and table manners. Such a shame. This wouldn’t be my 1st choice . Very...
Read moreBooked online for Saturday evening. Welcomed by the staff and shown to our table which was a nice position near the windows of onto the gardens. Offered table water straight away and then proceeded to order drinks. Good but limited selection of beers, decent wine selection and plenty of cocktails. Food menu is good with a nice variety of dishes, for starters we had the bon bons and the oatcakes, both dishes very tasty For main I had fillet steak my wife had the beef pie, again both very tasty, the chips are large like wedges but are very nice and the steak was cooked to perfection. For dessert I went for the sticky toffee pudding and my wife had the brioche bread and butter pudding, again bitty very satisfied. Overall I thought the food was excellent and the setting is very nice, prices are good for the quality. I feel a little bit bad that I only gave 4 stars for service, but it was a little slow, empty glasses left on the table and no-one checked with us if the meal was OK. The food was fine, but I had to try to catch a member of the team to order more drinks. The staff are pleasant and friendly enough, so it's not that they are rude or anything. I know that's nit picking but these small details make the difference between excellent and good. I would definitely recommend this place to...
Read moreLovely atmosphere and amazing view with amazing service. Only thing that let's it down is the food, could be so much better.
The crab cakes were nice just needed more seasoning, the diced red onion and spring onion and pepper mix was abit over powering with onion could of done with a small spoon full instead of it being half the dish. some kind of puree would of been nice. The egg was nice with them though.
The pork with bacon dish could of been better. the green beans on my plate were more on the raw side of al dente with little to no seasoning. Just put some clarified butter on them atleast make em look nice. The pork was a little slightly overcooked but still lovely so no issue bacon fat wasn't rendered. Potatoes were nice also, again more seasoning. However the sauce espagnole with balsamic was lacking it either tasted bisto or like someone put some cornflour in a weak stock i couldn't tell. No balsamic taste either.
However saying all this i would still eat here again the setting was lovely and the service was amazing and the pricing is affordable for the setting. £16.50 being the average price of a main, if the food was to a higher standard I would be happy paying £20-25 for a main here. So the price reflects...
