There is a world of difference between the quality of food and service here and at the Weathervane, the next nearest Hungry Horse to us.

The burgers we ordered were both overcooked. There were no garnishes on the plate and no sauces present or offered for them either. The bacon on my bacon and cheese burger was covered in bits of something it had been cooked with (hopefully our food), it was greasy and under done by anyone's standard. The chips were not the fluffy double cooked ones you would hope for - i actually had two different kinds mixed in which is different.

At the Weathervane cutlery and sauces arrive first. Here they were presented with the food which meant she didn't hold the plates at a flat angle and the bbq dipping sauce spilled into its neighbouring chicken. We were a cutlery set short, my knife was dirty, which I noticed straight away. Unfortunately the waitress had vanished so my friend gave me his.

I feel there is no love for the food. I was grateful on this occasion that no one asked us if everything was OK.

I appreciate that it was a busy day for them when we visited. That was clear by the entire floor area by the bar feeling like fly paper and the number of plastic glasses on it too. The chap who served us was pleasant and apologetic. I didn't use the loos but was told by someone in our party that they were disgusting something I find that guys are not too fussy about, these were worthy of a short conversation.

The zoning is off here. This adversely affects the atmosphere. They have a massive TV in the smart lounge area. This should be in the bar area I think.

It's a great shame it's not well managed because it has the potential to be a great eatery for all the family something Cheadle really needs. So come on guys pull your socks up. We want...

Wasn't the best of experiences I've ever had with here, I've been a few times now and this was the worst time for us. The little amount of staff on front of house was lovely and friendly for a semi busy night. Food has really gone down hill, 3 of us had hunters chicken, bacon was very over cooked chicken was a little rubbery and there was all of a tbsp of BBQ sauce on each dish. Tikka masala with 4-5 bits of small chicken; they had ran out of rice, so offed the choice of chips. All day breakfast ordered was hardly touched eggs and bacon very over cooked, toast had a musty taste. 1 meal out of 6 of us was ok which was a salad. 2 of our guests left early as they wasn't happy. We decided to stay and have dessert as we was still hungry and with the thought 'not much can go wrong with a dessert'. sticky toffee & chocolate fudge cake was really good! But green king who's fantastic idea was it to send out a tub of ice-cream with 2 twix bars and a bit of squirty cream for the candy mania, how tacky, not only that after digging through this tub of ice-cream none of the other ingredients was even in it no cookie dough ect, it literally was half and half ice cream😂, your poor staff that are made to serve these to your paying customers ; I feel so sorry if this is what is happening all across your other sites! As I had said your staff was amazing and they handled everything with a smile. But with the side of food taste and presentation this really needs looking into. My only other bit of criticism is the door leading from bar to back of house on the right side, keep the corridor clean and tidy not all way a great view or impression for customers...

✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅ July 2024 Positive update. See end of Review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A couple of us went to this pub for a meal at lunch time today . I decided to download the app and order a drink to see how fast it would actually come, because I couldn’t see anyone on the bar . Anyway nothing arrived and to be fair I was the first in ordering . So I nipped up and waited and I saw what looked like the lady in charge and she apologised. She was a very pleasant lady. The other server was nattering away round the corner.

Anyway I got my drink and sat down . We decided to order two meals. An ultimate combo and a medley of burgers meal with chips. Six burger in total. Unfortunately. My burgers were hit and miss. I ate two. The southern fried chicken was lovely and the cheese burger one was ok but the others were barely warm. I did mention it to a young lady who mentioned it to who was on the bar but nothing could be done apparently. The other meal looked over cooked. The thing is mine looked like it was warmed up meat but apparently it was cooked fresh? Anyway I’m always honest on here and considering we went six months ago to the same pub and the food was ace somethings gone wrong here. Very disappointed and the last time I’ll go there. Shame as I used this pub for many years. And it was fine then . Cheers folks and merry Christmas And see you at spoons lol from Now on.

Disappointing. The pub wasn't that busy but there was a massive wait for drinks and food arrival. They'd ran out of lasagne and Mac n cheese and fish and chips (liked how do you not have enough stock of the basics?) Ended up ordering a couple of hunters chicken, chicken tikka, scampi and chips, along with a couple of snack trays - chicken and chips and sausage and chips Three sausages should of been in the tray. Two arrived. And they were nasty, burnt and dry. I think these sausages are lower price than Tesco basics rubbish. Ordered 2* three scoops of ice cream for the kids which arrived as a single scoop... A disappointing visit to what used to be a regular stop after Alton towers.

I've had both good and bad experiences at The Master Potter when it comes to food and service. It's generally pretty good on the food front.. it tastes nice and it's good value for money, HOWEVER.... There is black mould in the men's toilet cubicle. It has been there for at least 1 year now, and it still hasn't been addressed. My most recent visit was on December 29th and I thought it had been addressed by now. I have contacted the company (Hungry Horse) to inform them - I just hope it gets sorted. It's actually put me off returning. The pub itself seems clean enough, but the mould definitely needs to be addressed to protect customers' health.

A charming and cozy little pub that feels refreshingly different from the typical Greene King franchise. The bar staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, engaging in delightful conversation that added a personal touch to our visit. The food was excellent – we tried the sharing platters and were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions and great value. The pub’s Christmas decorations were beautifully done, creating a warm and festive atmosphere that made our experience even more enjoyable. This is easily one of the best Greene King locations we’ve visited locally, and we’ll definitely be returning!
