First up we walked in and it was eerily quiet for a Saturday, that should have sent the warning bells ringing. Glasses and cutlery were filthy but still we ordered food. First up they didn't have any fish and chips, oh well but then 10 minutes after putting our order in they came out to say they didn't have any vegan cheese for the pizza either. We were told they would come back to take another order to replace it in a few minutes but the guy never returned. We then waited a while for the food despite there not being many people in. When it finally came out I got to see that my pizza was horribly burnt and half of it was hollow?? Not a particular fan of crunchy pizza with a massive amount of pizza dust on the bottom (seriously I was covered in it by the end and I only ate half of the pizza). The vegan chicken burger was cold and dry and the carvery was cold due to being sat around and the roast potatoes were rock solid. We're usually a fan of dessert but didn't even want to chance it. Always loved The Ashbank in the past but it's really not good anymore.

The pizza is really bad- all tomato and no cheese. THE WORSE PIZZA I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE! The attached photo is after I sent it back for extra cheese, so you can imagine how it came out originally (should have taken a photo). Also in hindsight I should have taken my second pizza back as it was still bad, but I didnt want a carvery or a rubbish burger, so was a bit stuck! Also my friend had a burger and said it was bad quality. We ordered cookie dough which were really small. The serving staff were polite so is prehaps the reason we didn't complain more, as it's not their fault, but they always take the brunt of complaints- which should be aimed at bad cooks or management. Also I emailed them to say the above and just got 'sorry, hope you won't be put off coming again'. It has put us off coming again.

Went for a birthday meal, poor bar staff were overworked & looked sick, took 30 minutes to order food at the till for 7 meals šŸ™ˆ waited a further 20 minutes to receive my beer too after ordering. 2 mains come before the starters and kids meals, absolute pilarva between young ā€œchefsā€ and waitress to actually get my kids food after waiting 90 minutes then it came with a mix a few fresh dippers and chips & freezing cold, rock hard inedible.at this point we gave up trying get what we paid for. Lovely supervisor(I’m guessing as the manager wasn’t anywhere to manage anything by the atmosphere seen) Abigail apologised & managed the situation as best as she could. I remember why we haven’t been there for a long time it’s gotten worse šŸ™ˆ never again

Where do I begin?

Having worked around the country I have used this Chain whenever one was nearby, got to watch football and enjoy a pizza or a carvery, never felt let down, until this one!

I went in around lunch time and found a table easily as it wasn't particularly busy, however any "clean" tables were sodden.

I went to the bar to order after deciding to have pizza (which ive been a fan of whenever I've used this Chain), and the lady serving was very pleasant, which is more than could be said for the "chef" on the carvery when asked a question about my order. I ignored that and went to my table to wait.

My order was a pizza a bowl of chips and a bowl of onion ring, aswell as 2 pepsi max with ice (the drink I took to the table with me).

I watched lots of people walk in, eat and even leave before my food turned up, on 50 mins I went to ask where the food was, before I got to the bar I noticed the food being taken to my table, the pizza had been sat on the counter for some time and when eating it I could tell.

So by now we had a large, cold, polenta covered (wayyyy too much) crisp with a pizza topping on it, watered down flat pepsi (by the time our food arrived, and little time to now eat it in.

There was no apology for the wait, none of the usual service you get, such as "everything ok?", "can I get you anything else?".....which I would have replied with: "yes please can we have some sauces", instead I trudged up to get them myself, leaving my food to stand for even longer.

So it's now an hour since ordering and I'm dipping chips, onion rings and crunchy pizza that's the same temperature as the BBQ sauce that half filled a small paper cup.

I've had bad food in places, I've had poor service in places, I've had long waits in places, and any of these things are understandable in isolation if a place is busy and/or understaffed, which really was notthe case here, it all simply felt like a complete lack of effort.

Now please let me explain that when I suggest a lack of effort, I am fully aware (I've worked in such establishments myself when I was younger), that wages are not great and often leadership is questionable, yet a review like this will be used a...

What an absolute disappointment. The staff are rude, scruffy, and unprofessional. The food is low quality and is served cold, and the cashiers can neither perform simple addition nor refund you when an incorrect bill has been charged. For context, me and my friend went to the Ashbank last night and had planned to go along to their psychic night for a midweek treat. I was charged for a Meat Carvery, when I am Vegetarian, but the cashier could not refund the difference for some reason. I'm not sure why a plate of lukewarm vegetables costs the same as a Turkey & Gammon dinner? At the end of the psychic night- which was absolute cow pat- I was embarrassed by the Assistant manager and he made me feel very small. He was propped up against the carvery bar wearing a scruffy puffer coat, drinking beer from the bottle. As I'd been charged for meat, but didn't have any, I innocently asked for a portion of "scraps" to take home at the end of the night for my dog. He then said a load of things that didn't make sense and that the whole chain cannot give meat as the scraps are weighed, blah blah blah. By this logic, the weight of waste would be off as I'd had a Vegetarian carvery when a meat carvery was run through the till? I couldn't argue my point anymore, so left it there. Conversations were being had about me by the staff and another manager, who were giving me dirty looks. Like, what on earth? It's a very amateur establishment and no one seems to know what they're doing. I was charged incorrectly, the food and service were abysmal, and I was treated like I...

*Edit * I did contact The Ashbank back and received no reply.

We popped by for a carvery tea and was looking forward to a nice meal after hearing it was under new management. We ordered on the app and it took 25 minutes to bring over 3 drinks and the carvery receipts. We understood that it seemed quite busy, but people were arriving and going to the bar and being served before we got ours. When we got to the carvery, there was no turkey and no pork. The server told a lady whilst we were waiting that he hadn't got time to go and fetch fresh ones yet. The stuffing consisted of a few crumbs, there was hardly any cabbage and we had to ration what roasts were left between the three of us. There were pots piled up behind which were empty and hadn't been taken away. By the time we had eaten it had quietened down so myself and my daughter ordered desserts. My partner decided to go home as we had arrived in separate cars and he hadn't enjoyed his meal. We placed the order on the app but after 30 minutes we had to go and ask where they were. The waitress said she would go and make them now. We waited another 10 minutes before we had them. I dread to think how long it would have been had we not enquired. The poor staff were running round like headless chickens and this reflected in the service and food. This has to be one of the worst visits to date. We will not be returning...
