We had heard about all the amazing reviews of this local pub and thought it would be a great place to go for our first time out together in over a year. On arrival we were placed on a table for 4 in the main bar area. We were not asked to complete a QR code scan or paper work. When the waitress asked us what drinks we would like my friend kindly asked if they made cocktails. The waitress was unsure so asked the lady behind the bar. After sometime she came back with a list of around 5 choices. Three of us decided to have the same cocktail but we were made to feel uncomfortable for asking and had to wait near on 20 minutes for them. We ordered food which was tapas for one of us but to be served as a main with the other 3 mains. When the food arrived after a very long wait the tapas came out on its own and before we said anything the waitress apologised that she hadn't made it clear to the chef that they were to come out with the 3 other mains. One of the tapas choices was muscles which was supposed to come with a fragrance of herbs covered in a white wine and butter sauce. What actually arrived was muscles covered in herbs with a very tiny amount of green sludge. When the rest of the food arrived the disappointment didn't end there. One of our group had requested a large portion of just muscles. A larger portion did arrive with no herbs (we presume they were probably used up on the first portion that was sent to our table) and no sauce either. They didn't smell right and after trying just three they didn't dare risk anymore. My order was Mediterranean chicken skewer. The chicken was very fatty and cheap tasting so this was left. The fries were so hard that I couldn't eat them. When we were asked how was the food we had to explain all the issues we had. The gentleman said that the muscles didn't have a sauce because we ordered it as a larger portion, what total nonsense. My friend explained about my fries to which he replied "they will be crispy because they are fries". I just told him it didn't matter and to just forget it. He offered to send out fresh food but we really didn't want to be there. After about 10 minutes the bar lady plonked some fries on our table and just said "here are your chips". Obviously they had wanted to try and make it up to us but these fries were cooked perfectly and not crunchy at all which only went to show that the original ones were overcooked. We didn't eat them! I believe they must of been short staffed as there was only one waitress for the whole pub. The bar lady was miserable and rude and I have never been felt to be made so uncomfortable in a pub in my life. When we went to pay we refused to pay for the muscles, we went to explain why and she just said I don't need to know and did us a fresh bill. Between the four of us we really cant get our head around so many positive reviews after...
Read moreWe visited as a group after a lovely morning hiking to Thor's Cave. Absolutely starving we found a close pub for some good pub food. The images on Google do not in any way match the food that is actually served here. After ordering food at 1pm in a pub only at half full capacity we did not expect to have to wait 55 minutes until we received our meals. When the food did eventually arrive it left a lot to be desired. We were told that they had run out of chips but we're cooking more. So they had shared what they had got among us...each meal came with about 8 chips on the plate and they were old/stale. The beef burger (£21!!) was rubbery, overcooked and tasteless. Even struggled cutting it with a knife! The fish was watery and the batter was dark brown and oily. A child in our group asked for her chips to be cheesy chips (which is on the menu) and they literally put a portion of grated cheese on the side for her and didn't melt it at all. The sausages didn't taste of anything and the broccoli disintegrated in your mouth it was so over cooked. Considering the expensive price of each dish - all around £21 - you would expect much better food. We only ate what we could because we were so hungry and had waited so long. To top it off when we were ready to leave and pay the bill the waitress came over with two massive bowls of chips at least 20 minutes after we'd all stopped eating! Hilarious! We told the waitress how disappointed we were and she shrugged, said sorry and that she would tell the chef. A disappointing end to what was a great weekend. We wouldn't recommend the food here or the service, and spent the drive home wishing we'd asked...

After a day of exploring the amazing countryside, me and my partner decided to eat out in this local village pub. Having covered some miles during the day, we were more than ready for a hearty pub meal.
We both ordered the scampi and chips at 7PM, by 7:20pm we were both imminently expecting our meal, sadly it had taken the chef 20 minutes to realise scampi was no longer on the menu, much to our surprise having waited 20 minutes.
So we now had to obviously order something else from a very small menu, the only other dish in the menu we fancied was the Mediterranean skewered chicken, but not something we both really wanted, we asked the waitress if we could just have chicken and chips? The waitress said that this should be ok and would speak to the chef, we were also told that we would have to pay extra of which we politely agreed. 30 minutes later the waitress pops 2 plates of Mediterranean skewered chicken on our table, we then explain that we thought we had agreed on chicken and chips, go which we were told SORRY this is how it comes!! By now its fast approaching 8PM, normally we would have just walked out, but our bellies were grumbling so after looking at the waitress gone out who may benefit from a wee bit of customer service training we decided to eat our few pieces of chicken on a stick and our luke warm soggy chips, then to really finish a delightful evening the very well trained bar staff tried to make me pay for my drinks again on top of the ÂŁ24 overpriced meal which I could and wished I had made myself on a disposable BBQ, so well done to all....
