Ye Olde Crown Hotel — Restaurant in Staffordshire Moorlands

Called in today 9 June for Sunday Lunch on our way to Pipes In The Peaks Concert. Received a warm friendly welcome by the lady serving behind the bar. She was very helpfull and accommodating to enable us to have a table as we hadn't booked. We ordered one Traditional Roast Beef and one Gammon Sunday Lunch. Both were served hot, in a timely manner, with fresh carrots, cauliflower cheese, broccoli, red cabbage, roast potatoes, stuffing and 2 home made Yorkshire puddings. Both meals were truly delicious and cooked to perfection and very generous in portion size. To follow we both had apple and rhubarb crumble and custard. This was on the recommendation of the pleasant young waiter who advised us that it had been made this morning. The meal was very reasonably priced. DO NOT STAY HERE. Stayed here as part of a wedding party and one of our group could not access their room when returning from the wedding as all rooms have codes not keys. We arrived back before the couple were locked out and they had to knock on the doors to wake us for help. We tried to contact the owner/ management to help with no avail- there is no-one available onsite or even via phone if any kind of issue occurs it seems. The couple had not received a code and were not at fault - despite the owner stating he had sent it without sending any proof upon request. Luckily they got back to the wedding venue down the road but dread to think if that had been more vulnerable guests and what could have happened. A sleepless...

This used to be a lovely village pub unfortunately it isn’t any longer.

They are no longer serving food and haven’t been for a while. They have recently changed all the draft beers and ciders there is no longer any English apple cider on draught they have swapped it for a sweet import cider such a shame when we live in a country which produces amazing cider.
