Myself and my family have been regular customers for over 3 years. This latest incident has left us utterly disgusted and we will not be returning.
We were celebrating a family birthday, so booked a table for 7 people (5 adults and 2 children) at 18:30 to take advantage of the happy hour set menu.
We had the order taken by the manager, an older gentleman with a mustache and glasses. He was abrupt, but nothing that would put me off returning.
The food was good, until it came to the ice cream. The pistachio was awful, no resemblance of the flavour whatsoever. The mint choc chip was extremely cheap, tasted of the plastic carton it was served in and was not fit to eat. One of the children chose a ferrero rocher ice cream. It looked fine until he showed me it had silver foil in it from the chocolates wrapper.
On requesting the bill, I was horrified to see the manager was trying to charge well over what it should of been, given we were ordering from the set menu.
Anything we ordered away from the set menu was going to have the difference added onto the bill. (a point we mentioned to two other waiter's when they pointed out some of our choices were of a higher cost).
Baring in mind we had refused to pay for the ice cream, I noted the manager had left it on the bill. We sent the bill back to have the items removed. When it was returned to us, we noticed the figures just didn't stack up. We queried this and was rudely informed we had NOT told anybody we were ordering from the set menu. (If this was the case, why had two other members of staff told us about the price difference of the few items we were ordering away from the set menu?)
After a few minutes of us trying to work the bill out, it was again removed from the table by the manager. On his return he said he would take off 10%, but it was our fault we hadn't told anybody about the menu. He threw a calculator on the table and stood waiting.
I would normally be very grateful for an offer such as this, but considering the bill was about £60 over what it should of been, I was still unhappy. The manager had the audacity to say the bill should of been around £200, but he'd reduced it.
He then stated he'd take off 20% instead. This just made us even more suspicious that were being ripped off.
As you can see by the image of the bill, it is difficult to see how anybody can work out what they have had and how much it costs. Many times it was scribbled out and written over.
In the end we simply wanted to leave. What had set out to be a pleasant birthday meal had been ruined.
We reluctantly paid £166 and stated to the staff who knew us that we wouldn't be...
Read moreFirst time I came here was about a month ago it was nice the food was good and overall a pleasant experience. So we decided to go back yesterday.
Much to our regret whilst the food remained reasonable the service didn't. Our waiter was extremely rude and stood watching us. As soon as we got sat down he asked what we wanted to drink (no menu or a couple of minutes to actually take our jackets off or anything). However we chose the drinks I got a cobra and my fiance chose a malibu and coke. The cobra tasted off! It was very cloudy it's rare for me to waste a pint but I did not finish that!
Just as we were finishing our poppadoms before my fiance had even put the last piece in her mouth the waiter was there taking to plates asking if we were ready for the starters. Which we found was absolutely rude.
Fast forward to the mains the order that I ordered was not correct but I got through it. I asked for a Balti at madras hotness but only received the Balti. The food was meh Ok. My fiance then found hair in her rice, she complained and the manager came over and said it's not a hair (yeah whatever mate) and there was nothing he can do. He did however knock the meal off but not apologetic in any sort of way.
It was just not a nice experience in any sort of way and we will never return again. It ruined our night out together unfortunately. You get a better service in McDonald's!! We also heard shouting and arguing in the back whilst we were eating. My fiance was rather annoyed that the waiter was just staring at her to finish and every time he did come over he wouldn't lean over to take her plate and would demand she would give it to him! He should be fired on the spot and never work within customer service again!
I hope this review helps others...
Read moreWell.. Where do I start! This place are good for there curries.. as we've eaten here before.. But we went for an Xmas dinner today and it was absolutely awful.. We had a turkey dinner.. Well if you can call it a dinner.. There was meat on the plate with few roast potatoes.. Rock solid stuffing as well as rock solid veg that looked like tinned veg, and salad? Yes.. salad, on a Xmas roast? The salad was brown and looked like it had been lying around for days.. Then they brought out a desert bowl of gravy.. Which was also disgusting! An that was our Xmas meal? We were rushed through courses, we had to tell them we wanted our desert a little bit later on, as we wanted to relax for a while.. One of the staff absolutely stuck of b.o it physically knocked me sick as it was sticking the whole restaurant out while we was trying to eat. And the desert was not all that either.. When I brought this to the managers attention he didn't seem one bit bothered an looked abit confused.. Didn't apologise, didn't say he was sorry that we felt this way, nothing, was just complete and utter rude.. Told me to fill out a complaint form and that was it!! I think spice tower need to google what a English Christmas dinner is and to doit to a high standard, as it is a special day of the year for us and what was presented to the table today I wouldn't of even fed it to my dog. If you can't doit to a satisfactory standard then please don't put an Xmas dinner on your menu! We will not be returning back here in a...
