Having just returned from we thought would be the perfect Sunday lunch, I feel I have write this review We sat a lovely table by the garden patio doors, all well so far, ordered drinks and food at the same time, my food order of home made pie with chips peas and gravy, came as mash and chips, the waitress quickly took my order was to correct the issue, my wife’s small turkey Sunday lunch arrived with watery gravy, very fatty turkey and mushy veg that was obviously frozen and not fresh, Half way through my wife’s meal, my meal arrived which was chicken and tarragon pie with chips peas and gravy, .hmmm the pies pastry was beyond soggy on the bottom, the chicken was rock hard, the chips were crispy on the outside but raw on the inside, obviously frozen chips not cooked through, they tasted like the oil that they had been fried in was at least 3 months old. The gravy was just brown water and tasteless, the pepper pot was empty apart from a few hard crusts of old pepper. Needless to say we will not be going there again, which is unfortunate as it was a favourite of ours and we went there at least three times a month. I would recommend giving this place a wide...
Read moreI had a lovely lunch at this pub last week. I went with my wife and a couple who are our good friends. It was a lovely sunny day so we sat out for our meal. The menu is varied and reasonably priced. The drinks are a bit pricey; especially the non-alcoholic ones. I would have docked half a star for this, but you can't..... but to be honest, everything else was perfect.
We were served by a young lad called George when we first arrived. He took our drinks order. Without any prompting, he appeared with a bowl of water for our friends' dog which was a nice touch. George was attentive throughout our meal without being obtrusive. He was really friendly and seemed happy in his work.
The food was excellent. I had a delicious home made steak pudding. I couldn't quite eat it all but I gave it a good go. My wife's scampi was tasty.
We have been a few times now and really enjoyed it. On our previous visit we spoke to the lady who runs the pub who is also the chef. She is really nice and friendly. She is passionate about good customer service and good food. I definitely recommend this pub for a friendly welcome and hearty, homemade food. The location is...
Read moreRegular visitor to the Devy, but would never return after service or lack of we received today.
My family and I went and enquired if they had any availability prior to decamping from the car, we were told they did. Great! After being seated we spent the next 30 minutes being avoided by the staff as though someone had told them we had Monkeypox.
It was only after trying to order at the bar that we were told we were not allowed to order yet as they had pre booked tables due in that had to take priority over us. Never heard anything like it.
When we enquired when we would be allowed to order we were told “don’t know 10-15 minutes, we have another table due in shortly that have to take priority”
Being treated like second class citizens when trying to spend money in a local establishment wasn’t on my bingo card for today, and visiting this pub won’t ever be on my bingo card in the future.
Shocking way to treat customers, most appalling service I’ve ever experienced. Would recommend to anyone reading this review to visit other establishments in the area: The Oddfellows, The Little Mill Inn,...
