Thought we were getting a camping hut in a grassy area. Its a car park with some rotting wooden tables, a mud wallow building site and industrial recycling bins. The huts are extra small. No table kind of small. Not even a fold out one. Wifi is abysmal and they don't have sweeteners for anyone who doesn't take sugar so bring your own . Wish I had.
For the price it's not worth it. No breakfast available at the pub so you will have to cater for yourself in the mornings and if that means cooking be prepared to set off fire alarms even with the window and door open the pods are that small and cramped.
No taxis in the area. Many private hire businesses don't work weekends so if you are planning on needing public transport BOOK IN ADVANCE and don't trust the sites info packs or you'll be stranded like us.
Generally, if you want a real glamping experience, look for somewhere picturesque, not a cat park. It wasn't what we wanted. If you just want somewhere to crash near your planned activities, look for an actual hotel. If you desperately want to sleep in a pod, then this will do but try and pay less...
Read moreThis review is for our nights stay as a family of 4 in the squirrel glamping pod. Absolutely beautiful location with a nice big playing field and park opposite and plenty of nice walks, pods were well equipped and clean and tidy and the double bed was already made on arrival which was nice. Just a few small points that stopped me giving this 5 stars, the doubled bed is made up by converting the dining area and as it was only foam seating cushions we found it to be not so comfortable and woke several times in the night, the WiFi signal was terrible and continually dropped out, I also head no phone signal 😕 lastly for us as a family of four the pub restaurant was on the expensive side with the cheapest meals starting at £14, for this reason we found somewhere else to eat, a shame as I'm sure the food is lovely but perhaps a small discount offered to guests using the pods would have swayed us. Overall though a...
Read moreWe parked our motorhome #sofabedonwheels at one of two spots at the top of the car park ideal for our vehicle of 7.2m. Stayed here for one night on our way down to the Cotswolds. We booked in for a meal as a treat and had a lovely evening. Owner and staff very friendly. Hubby had some real ale made at a brewery nearby and was very impressed. Our meals were excellent. Both made from scratch and with fresh produce (and you can definitely tell the difference...) we finished with a homemade chocolate brownie and 2 spoons! This pub/restaurant is located in an idyllic village opposite the village green. It also had some 'glamping pods' in a lovely area behind the building, all of them full! A great find for our list of 'motorhome stopovers' that we are compiling although you may be lucky to get a space! Definitely ring in advance. Lovely people, excellent food and a...
