Having lived in this village for 19 years, it is a shame to have to put on a review that is so negative for my local pub. My family of 5 went for a meal on Jan 10th at The Bell, having eaten there on Christmas Day and many years prior, we had high expectations which are usually met. Unfortunately, we got off to a bad start as two members ordered the mussels, which came out almost stone cold (as well as their partnering of fries), and the "fresh bloomer bread" was first of all forgotten, and upon being reminded, the staff brought out cold sliced bread that had clearly come off any old loaf. The "Cheesy Truffle Tiger Fries" were yet another disappointment to two members of our party. The truffle oil was undetectable, and the cheese certainly not melted... apparently they are under the "to share" section of the menue at £8 each... regrettably they do not fulfil this either. Moving on to dessert, two members chose the "Luxury Biscuit Sundae" which sadly lacked in cheesecake pieces and came with a lump of frozen fruit that was inedible (I mean a handful of raspberries frozen together like they were just dug out of the freezer). Upon bringing this to the attention of staff, we were told it was supposed to come like that...even though frozen fruit ice block wasn't in the description. Finally, the tantalising sounding "S'mores Chocolate Brownie" had what appeared to be tinned cherries (not Cherry Compote), no vanilla ice cream and no biscoff crumbs either! Oh and the toasted marshmallows were those mini ones you can buy at the supermarket - sadly instead of toasted they were hard and stale. The staff who served us were lovely and accommodating, these downfalls are that of the Chef. Since this pub has been taken over by the Stonegate group standards have fallen and the menu is NOT an accurate description of what you get but rather false advertising! P.S. two members of my family went for a roast a few weeks ago... their bill was scrapped as their meat came out cold (once they had to pick between two as Chef had run out of the rest) and their vegetables were raw...

In the late 90s , I went to TAMWORTH-in-Arden to see the grave of Nick Drake. This weekend I went to TANWORTH -in-Arden , having arrived I discovered it was the same place and for near on 30 years I got the name wrong!!. Back in the 90s, we visited the grave on a lovely weekday sunny afternoon. Had a beer outside the pub and left the village. This weekend we went purposefully to stay at the Bell , Supervalu for money bed-and-breakfast (superior room -Room number 2) Nice bathroom, good decent bed and bedding, coffee, making facilities in the room . Having visited a few national trust properties beforehand and experienced very bad customer service from the employees and particularly the young people. It was much appreciated to discover great staff at the Bell, particularly including the girl with very long blonde hair. Nothing was too much trouble. Great coffee with cream . Brilliant, clean quality breakfast , cooked exactly as requested, whether that was the fried eggs or the excellent scrambled eggs. Great toast cereals available also. More items available on the breakfast then I choose to have. Plenty of parking available uncomplicated and easy to take advantage of. Will we return? Undoubtedly when in the area again, it will be top of the list.

The menu and food was poor. Hardly any vegetarian dishes. I ended up ordering a starter and a sharing chips. Not difficult to do a few pasta dishes, halloumi burger rather than fake meat, veggie skewers, curry, etc! The mushroom bruschetta was average. The truffle chips with melted cheese was not ok. Small amount considering it was a sharing dish and £8, and cheese wasn’t melted and so it didn’t work well. No care and attention given at all. My friend is gluten intolerant and found the same, lack of options and very restrictive if you dont want to eat meat! Another in our group ordered the salad as a main as she’d had it the week before and it was good. This time it was half the size and missing so many of the ingredients, no peppers, avocados, hardly any tender stem. Very disappointing and we returned it but took them 3 times to get it right. Manager was very apologetic. Another in our group ordered the beef burger with bacon and cheese which had no bacon, looks very unappetising, no side salad/coleslaw and half the plate was empty.these aren’t hard to get right, as you can stack the ingredients and they look impressive. Not in this case, she compared it to a McDonald’s burger. Manager took back and replaced and was better second time. The food here is not cheap, and very poor quality. We will not be returning as there are other restaurants/ pubs nearby serving much better food for better value. Service was ok, we were left a number of times waiting for a waitress to serve us/ let us pay. However they just need better training to keep returning to tables to check. the resturant wasnt even half full. We’ve been eating at the bell for 12 years and in previous hands it was impressive small menu and done very well, same prices but you don’t mind paying more for a food meal. I have been before for Sunday roast which was very good, so...

One star is too generous! Table was booked and we were excited for a midweek treat. Arrived to find they’d booked us in at the wrong time, we were told to wait for a moment as he (the deputy manager) was dealing with a large order. We just sat down to wait, nobody came to see us at all. He finished the order and went straight to a table of 4 who had just walked in. We were completely invisible. We sat and waited. We asked for menus, then asked to order - not one person came to apologies for their mix up or sorry to keep us waiting. We totally did not matter! Starters came after 1hr and 15 minutes. Main course we again had to ask for after more than 2hours. At that point he said ‘we are very busy’ (as we looked at the empty tables around us !) it should be about 10 minutes. It arrived around 40 minutes later. My lamb was really really rare, barely cooked. It was accompanied by 2, yes 2 small new potatoes and 1 fork full of creamed cabbage! I may add that this meal I cured a £2 additional charge! Nobody asked us if we were ok for drinks or anything, no bottle of water for the table. Throughout we saw plenty of other tables walk in, get served, drinks etc but not us. We didn’t complain, we were patient but honestly hand on heart. Every member of staff were ignorant and lacked customer service completely. The food was horrendous and after 3 hour I returned home and made a sandwich. I will never ever go again. The deputy manager was just plain rude but everything was just awful. My food...
