Having read some good reviews we popped out here for some lunch on a rainy Monday. The pub has a mixed, eclectic feel about it with old and modern furnishing, quite a lot of pine. There is a great 'grocery' stall addition along the main corridor, selling chutneys, spices and nuts etc. The garden looked nice, although we didn't sit outside due to the rain.
For Patents: They were able to provide an attachable high chair for our 7 month old, one of those ones which straps onto a chair, which was great. On going to the toilet I was unable to find any changing facilities, so had to attempt to change our son on a hard, cold, marble surface alongside the sink, never before have I been so glad of the extra changes of clothes I arrived around with me to provide him with some head cushioning. It wasn't until after I'd changed him that I noticed a cupboard under the sink, which housed a changing mat and some changing items - would have been really great if they'd put a sign up on the wall saying these were available, as it's a huge shame to provide them so quietly.
Food : The food, what can I say, other than amazing!! I had a tuna mayonnaise baguette, and despite me taking my time to get around to eating it, due to feeding our son, the baguette was nice and warm. The salad dressing was subtle but tasty. Not too much, nor too little mayonnaise on the tuna, it was delicious!!
Definitely a place to revisit, especially now I know where the changing facility items are! (please put up a sign...
Read moreLovely traditional country pub with a good menu, great food and friendly service.
We visited The Boars Head after a family bereavement and had a lovely cold spread prepared which was far nicer than we expected.
We followed this up a fortnight later by dropping in for a sit down meal which although we hadn't booked the staff put some tables together to sit all 12 of together.
The food was lovely, we didn't have to wait long and as with our previous visit the staff were all nice and friendly.
The Ice cream and waffles which the children had for dessert were to die for and the price was very reasonable.
All in all a lovely village pub in a nice location with great food and service...
Read moreThe Landlord was very friendly and the service was quick. We both had sausage and mash and it came up lovely and hot. The 'delicious' gravy was indeed, very delicious. We enjoyed the food so much we went there again 2 nights later. Being Friday night there were a few of the locals in there who were a little loud, which was a shame, but I suppose it's their local soooooo. However once again the food was served within a reasonable time and lovely and hot. All in all a great place and we will go there again when we're down...
