We dined here on 4th May . The new owners (David & Leanne ) are very welcoming . They only reopened around 5 months ago and seem to be doing a fantastic job . They are both very attentive to your needs and welcome feedback 😊 whether good or indifferent. The pub is small but cosy and the decor is pleasant. There is ample seating outside also perfect on a lovely sunny day . Food was outstanding 👌. We started with camembert bites with warm cranberry sauce. Our mains were roast dinners . Hubby chose pork and I opted for the beef 😋. The beef was cooked to perfection and plenty of it . Our only suggestion was to possibly put the gravy in a boat , rather than on the meal . It gives customer the choice then of how much they wish to put on their dinner . Dessert was also good . Plenty of choice .We opted for an Apple Tart with icecream and a homemade Apple Pie with custard . The overall price for two was £90 but this also included 2 drinks each . We left well fed and happy 😊. Well done Leanne and David ..we will...
Read moreThis was our first visit since the ferry changed hands. The biggest change for us was the food. The food is different but still good! We went on a Saturday, so can't comment on the Sunday roast but we tried a fair sample of the plates. For starters, we had a soup and a pate. Both went down very well. The soup was a vegetable soup, thick and dull of veggie chunks. The pate was a generous wedge. For mains, we had a steak and kidney pie, fish and chips, half roast chicken, and a fish goujon sandwich. The pie was well filled and a suet pastry for a change. Fish and chips, a fair portion and light looking batter. The half roast chicken was a fairly large bird and the fish goujon sandwich was well filled and tasty. Dessert was a sticky toffee pudding- nice and light, and a fruit crumble with custard, slightly tart but a nice balance against the custard. Service was fast and the team were friendly. We will be back to try the Sunday...
Read moreThis 'proper' pub deserves a big fat 5*. But, it's in a sad decline, a pub that should be the centre and beating heart of a stunning village (with no car parking to boot!) Needs vision, and a clear directive to maximise it's potential... Fairly obvious, the locals are up in arms (rightly so) the exasperated pub management are clinging on, just by looking at the bar stock... So, what's to do now? Is it a pub problem, council or just the fine locals who love their pub? Either way, this 'goldmine' business is fading to the point where it'll be snapped up and turned into residential as seems to be the norm these days... It's a crying shame TBH... We haven't popped in for a good while, we're not regulars, but, we'd love to visit in much happier times... C'mon investors! (Council) Do the...
