We visited The Four Alls between Christmas and New Year. We have been there a number of times and decided it was worth the 1 hour journey as they have a good selection of vegan options. On this occasion I ordered the Rigatoni Vegano and pointed to it on the menu āAl forno ? ā the waitress asked. āYes. Veganoā I replied. I asked if it can be served without cheese as I donāt like vegan cheese. She checked with the kitchen and this was ok. My sister ordered exactly the same. When the meal arrived my sister checked ā is this the vegan dish?ā The waitress replied āyes, without cheeseā. We both happily started eating and immediately realised we were eating chicken. We called the waitress over and advised there was meat in the dish. She replied āyou didnāt specifyā we advised we had stated vegan 3 times. She apologised and said she would get the correct dish made for us. I became very distressed and went to the bathroom to be sick. I couldnāt stop crying -I have been vegan for 36 years. For me, this isnāt a fad, but part of my identity. I was too upset to return to the table so I left. I understand that the waitress apologised to my sister again and stated there was a mix up in the kitchen. And yet earlier she said we didnāt specify we wanted the vegan option (Rigatoni Calabrese and Rigatoni Vegano sound very different in my opinion and are listed as two separate dishes). We were also offered free drinks, as if that would have made things ok. This was not simply an incorrect order but a catastrophic error. Thank god this wasnāt an allergy as the consequences could have been life threatening. My sister and dad also decided to leave without eating as they were also very angry and upset. I am really disappointed with the Four Alls which is usually one of our favourite restaurants to visit. I understand mistakes can happen but the waitress did not listen and then lied to cover her mistake. I really hope the outcome of this is that the restaurant doesnāt remove vegan dishes from the menu, as this would be the laziest approach. I instead urge you to train your staff properly and ensure they take responsibility for their actions. I hope one day Iāll feel able to return to this establishment, but for now I remain too traumatised by...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is place is my local, so I gave it two visits before coming to the conclusion that the service here is absolutely appalling. First visit was a week day with my friend; the place was pretty much empty. A lady was serving behind the bar, charlotte I think. I stood at the bar for a good 3-4 mins (I was the only one) whilst she was making coffees for another table, no acknowledgement. When she finished the coffee she walked straight past me round to the washer machine and proceeded to empty the glass washer, again no acknowledgement. Finally after nearly ten mins she asked what I wanted, I ordered the drinks and asked for a menu. She came to a table with a menu and saw my friend already had one āoh so you donāt want a menu then?!ā She almost shouted. We informed her we would like two, so we could Both look. Not that hard is it?! The service with this lady went from bad to worse, after we finished our first drinks I went up again and asked for the same Again. She started to pour the wrong drinks, I advised her of this and she argues with me about it?! Her response was āno! These are what you had last timeā I think I know what I drank but she still continues to argue, so we left. Worst service Iāve had off someone in a very long time. We tried again last weekend, the bar was busy and clearly understaffed. No acknowledgement at the bar again, no apologies for the huge wait for drinks, itās like your invisible, the food is ok but the service is absolutely appalling, ruins the whole experience. Do yourself a favour and try one of the other local pubs where you will Receive a much nicer and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe booked a table for 9 plus a highchair in order to celebrate the granddaughter's birthday. I had previously spoken to them as to whether they could accommodate a gluten free diet and was told yes as they had a separate fryer for the chips and everything. Happy days. When we arrived there wasn't any booking recorded so they had to push a couple of tables together but they had no highchair. The menu which they supplied for the allergens only had the dearer items, double checked about the chips and was told in no uncertain terms no .. they only have one fryer. I asked about other items which I had eaten previously at the Jubillee (same chain) only to be told I couldn't have them either. I settled on a chicken salad which they brought out, the meat was dry so I asked for some dressing - same response non available. We asked for macaroni cheese for the toddler , they came back and said non available so chose nuggets but they were served up on a red hot plate - I mean honestly safety first. A third of the way through the chicken salad I discovered what can only be described as a lump of mud, so I pushed it aside and then found that the lettuce leaf underneath was mouldy and had a grub on it - at this point I called the waitress over to show her. She took my food away to the chef and was very apologetic , when she returned she offered me a replacement but I declined and a free drink. There was also a rump steak (well done) ordered but that wasn't supplied with a steak knife and it was rare; half of it was left as was too tough to chew. The staff didn't really seem to know what they were doing...
