Booked a table for 4 for 6.30pm dinner on Groupon Sunday Roast Dinner. Arrived on time. Had to wait 10 mins to be seated despite prior booking made and most tables were empty. Finally seated about 6.40pm. Went over to carvery section. Out of 3 choices of meat, 1 was out. The remaining 2 looked dried out. Vegetables were mostly empty. Only 4 pieces of roast potatoes left. Was told by chef to wait while he went inside kitchen to fetch the plates. Waited a good 15 mins and he never showed up. Went back to seat and asked to see the menu for ala carte. Menu was appalling and limited and NOT value for money compared to the Groupon we had purchased. No choice left but to go back to the carvery, was told it would shut at 7pm. We were completely shocked as we had bought a Sunday Roast Dinner. How could they shut at 7pm? It was take it or leave it so we had no choice but to go back to carvery section to have leftovers and dried meat. Waited for another 10 mins and chef came back with cold plates. He said he would bring newly roasted potaoes to our table. We started eating at 7.20pm. The poatatoes never arrived. No manager came to see us despite the complaints we had raised. I will NEVER eat or recommend anyone to this restaurant ever again. They deserve to go out of business. POOR FOOD. POOR SERVICE. NO COURTESY. They do not deserve any...
Read moreWent today for dad's birthday and it couldn't have been a better experience! Flat enough to be accessible for his mobility scooter. All the staff were so kind and sweet - made a real fuss over him for his birthday even though we were low key about it and hadn't said in advance. The inside is absolutely stunning!! Exposed beams, beautiful chandelier and big windows - good view of the kitchen which made mum happy. Mum is a very fussy eater and has been known to just eat a bag of crisps from her bag if she doesn't fancy anything on offer 😅 but she devoured all of her vegetable noodles, which they kindly made without coriander, and said it was delicious!! The rest of us had the Railroad, Everest and Shaslik - all exceptional!! You could really taste the fresh ingredients and they all had a real depth of flavour. The servers checked everything including allergies, how spicy some dishes could be made, and were just perfectly attentive without being intrusive. We wished we had cash to tip - perhaps there could be an option on the card machine? I'm really happy and proud we have such an amazing restaurant on our doorstep and will 100% be taking family and friends there in future. We also checked that they do take out and they do! We will be ordering again soon! Thank you so much to the whole team for making my dad's 82nd birthday a...
Read moreWell, after giving this pub (our local) a 6th chance we won't be going back there again.
A pre-booked (3 weeks ago) private function for 13 with use of the back room was totally lost on the system when we arrived. Pre-orders lost and the room not set up for us. Just totally ruined the whole get together.
(Exactly the same thing happened at Christmas for a pre-booked meal).
I have to give credit (hence 5 stars for service) to the temporary manager (apologies I forgot his name) who had been brought in from their other pub in Cheltenham to save what's left of the place.
He had literally been dropped in it by useless x-colleagues who have now all been sacked. One of whom took our booking and never passed on any of the information. (If you're reading this, good luck in the big wide world you absolute lemon).
The temporary manager did get all our orders out in good time despite there being 13 of us so thank you.
Absolute shame this cosy Warwickshire pub is now back to an empty, poorly organised, over priced shell from what it once was.
Why can't this bloody pub be the amazing place...
