Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Stroud

Service poor, drink frankly undrinkable Very quiet in the cafe, few vehicles in the drive through. Three staff behind counter one chap preparing drive through orders, the other two appeared to be gassing. We were looking in the counter at the cakes, but this didn't generate any interest from the staff. Once we had decided we moved to the order point. Eventually the chap noticed we were waiting and told one of the other staff. Her reaction was not encouraging, but she did come over to serve us. She took our order and made the drinks. I was concerned that the jug containing the cream element of the iced cappuccino still seemed to have loads in it after my drink was made. No expression of pleasantness until another lady came in behind us, when her face lit up. Then she remembered our cake order, and the sour face returned. The "Costa Special" is becoming a bit of a running joke at this place. No matter what I order at the drive-thru, the drink I discover when I get to my office is whatever they decided to make rather than what I actually ordered.

Today I also had the added bonus of discovering the milk bottle lid had been dropped in my drink when I heard it rattling around the bottom of the cup when I'd almost finished my latte (which wasn't the drink I'd ordered). Funny thing was I'm pretty sure the lady making my drink saw it fall in as she poured the milk from the jug into the cup, but from where I was outside the window of the drive-thru, I assumed it was just a blob of foam tipping in. I guess it was to make up for my lack of vanilla syrup, but I can't say it added...

Visited at 9.30am this morning and as usual there were only two members of staff who for a whole queue of people waiting at the drive through and inside. Left after 10 mins when out of the 5 people in front of me, only one had been served. The staff in here are lovely.. really polite and working so hard, but through no fault of their own, it is obviously consistently understaffed. This is the 5th time I have visited in recent months (at all different times of the day) and the 4th time I have left without being served, as the wait is just too long.
