My family and I came this morning hoping to have a nice breakfast together. None of the food was very warm, but the dish my mum ordered included poached eggs, and when they came stone cold she asked for them to be heated up. She also pointed out that her tomatoes were completely raw and was told that they were not supposed to be cooked, despite the menu literally saying ‘roasted vine tomatoes’. We were very disappointed by the service we received after that; the member of staff who brought the plate back over threw it down in front of my mum and walked off without saying anything. I don’t usually write reviews, but as somebody who has worked in customer service I was appalled by this. It was not only immature, but also made my mum feel really uncomfortable for making a very reasonable and presumably quite common request. When we went to pay at the counter, my mum asked for this staff member’s name as she was planning on complaining to the manager about her service. The two members of staff on the till were both very unfriendly towards us. They told us she was ‘out the back’, then backtracked and said they didn’t know who it was, before telling us her name. My mum chose not to complain in the end, however I’ve decided to leave a review because it upset me to see my mum upset when she was excited to treat us to a nice breakfast out, and I don’t feel customers paying a lot of money for your food should be made to feel like this just for making a simple request. An unpleasant...

I've been here a number of times and never been disappointed ... Until yesterday. We booked afternoon tea for 6 people which runs from 3pm until 5pm at £14.95 per person. At 4.20pm the waitress came over and asked if we wanted some boxes to take our cakes home in and began clearing our plates away. We still had 40 mins remaining and were making our way through the delicious items whilst chatting. We felt very rushed and sadly some of the items were in small glass jars so we weren't able to take those away. When it came to using the toilets we found they had already been cleaned! We didn't get time to look round the shops upstairs properly either. I think the afternoon tea would be better served from 2.30 to 4.30pm and then the place...

Turned up to have lunch on a Saturday at 2.30, the waitress offered us a table which had a reservation in half an hour, we enquired on another table that had a reservation for 1.30, the waitress said they were coming at 2 clearly not knowing what the time was. There were 3 other empty tables with reservations, she didn’t offer to check when they would be available, she didn’t offer a waiting time for a table and made it clear our customer wasn’t necessary as they were busy enough. It’s not hard to be offered some options, we would have been happy to wait if we’d have felt welcome to. Frustrating that they can’t cope...

Beautiful atmosphere, but unfortunately let down by poor service. There were six staff members—two at the front and the rest in the back—yet the service was extremely slow. We ordered scones, coffee, and an English breakfast, and it took 40 minutes for the breakfast to arrive. It appeared that the team in the kitchen was disorganized and lacked coordination. While waiting, we noticed concerning hygiene practices: one staff member handling food was taking ingredients like cheese, bread, and lettuce from multiple places without washing her. FOH very good job BOH take the mic

Had afternoon tea there today, lovely selection of sandwiches, mini cheese scones and slices of warm sausage roll. They cater for whatever you want, just speak to them (no butter on sandwiches, vegetarian options on separate ate etc...) lovely selection of cakes, all home made, macrons, strawberries and cream and an endless (well 2 large pots) supply of tea as well as a jug of elderflower cordial. Friendly, polite, helpful staff complete the experience. Highly recommend it, but book in advance as its very popular.

Lovely place for afternoon tea with lots of cakes and treats to try. The portion sizes for the sandwiches per person was small but due to the amount of scones and sweet treats we weren't able to finish the whole tower. Some of the cakes with jam felt too sweet for my liking but tasty nonetheless. I especially enjoyed the raspberry tartlet and both sweet and savory scones. Cute crockery and very traditional tea party feel. The group loved it and especially enjoyed the aesthetics of the cafe.
