My wife and I had dinner booked here as part of our honeymoon. We were staying in Edge and as this was the only pub within reasonable walking distance we had it booked so we could walk down and have a couple of drinks and something to eat. When booking we were told as we had a dog we couldn’t sit inside but there was seating outside with umbrellas. Fine by us!
It had been raining on and off throughout the day and on arrival we saw that none of the umbrellas had been put up so the tables and chairs were wet from the rain.
When I went in I told them we’d arrived for our booking and asked where we would be seated. All I was told was that it would have to be outside as we had a dog. I went back outside to have a look around the decking area to see if anywhere was suitable. None of the umbrellas had been put up so it was all wet.
I went back in and to clarify I asked if they had anywhere outside that we could sit that was covered. I was told that they have the umbrellas and there’s a bit of cover under a tree. To which I responded that all the tables were wet as none of the umbrellas had been put up. The response I received was “well, to be honest, we didn’t think you’d come”.
Edge is an isolated little village, this is the only pub within reasonable walking distance and the booking had been made weeks in advance. Yet we were made to feel like it was our fault for turning up to our booking!
At no point did anyone offer to clear and dry a table, or put an umbrella up.
I can’t speak for the quality of the food but don’t expect any sort of care,...
Read moreThree of us went for a late Sunday lunch, ordered Bread, dipping oils and Olives to start with Maple glazed Pork Loin, Sea Bass and Black bean balls for our mains with desserts to follow. There was a Roast option, but the beef was topside, but you can order Wagu sirloin for £23.00 We sat in what is best described as the lean too, very hot as the windows were locked. The seats are uncomfortable if you are there for as long as we were (nearly 2 1/2 hours). We waited 30 mins for our appetizers to arrive (this was not a busy time). One of two wine glasses was filthy. The staff although full of good intention need more training on customer service. The mains were nice, although it would of been improved if the chef would of made a sauce for the Pork rather than using the Demi that was used for the Sunday gravy. £108, was a reasonable amount, although the Inn would beat be described as a work...
Read moreVery nice home cooked food. The view on the terrace was fantastic. Very friendly staff. A good choice for a meal out with a view. *Just visited again. The food was exceptional, the olives and warm focaccia were delicious. The lambs liver and bacon was very tasty. But the star of the show was the deserts. Lemon curd cheesecake that was so light and 3inches high! Served with blackberry ice cream, was devine. The treacle tart with ginger and honey ice cream went down well, the apple and plum crumble with custard was a big hit, and the brownie and ice cream didn't fail to please. The views are fantastic, the food is awesome and the service very good as well. Of you're thinking about visiting get...
