Came out of our way to have lunch at this pub on account of there being a good play area where we thought we’d be able to eat lunch and enjoy a few drinks while the kids ran off steam. Unfortunately the play area was really pretty unclean with dried on food, ketchup splatters, sticky drink spills and bird poo all over every single picnic table along with fag butts and bits of plastic on every inch of ground. The playpark tables just don’t seem to ever get cleaned and as a result there were hundreds of ants crawling over all the tables and tons of aggressive wasps swarming at any drink or food that appeared. Those tables all need a good powerwash! As a result of the dirty play area with all the ants and wasps the kids only have played a fraction of the time we were there and then we had to retreat inside to eat. The food was alright and the service inside was friendly but it was just so disappointing not to be able to sit outside in the lovely weather and relax while the kids played.

A couple of days back, we stopped at the George for breakfast. My son wanted pancakes. Not on the menu, but the lovely lady behind the bar said she would ask the chef if it was possible. I have got to say this was the best pancake we have had forever! a slight flavour of banana light fluffy and huge😍. If not for anything else, this place is 100% well worth a visit just for their pancakes, we look forward to revisiting. And thanks to the lady and chef at the George.

Cracking pub. Nothing was too much for the staff who catered for our very large group of around 60 people. It was our clubs charity event and the staff really did go above and beyond to cater for us. The carvery was delicious and plenty of ales to choose from. Great location, clean and friendly venue, what’s not to love! Would highly recommend.

We had a party of four and came here for Saturday lunch. Firstly the place was welcoming and easy to park. Inside was very quiet. A few locals at the bar and only one couple in for food. The server behind the bar was plesent enough. Though my first beer choice didn't work and was quickly deside not to on. Next drinks ( tap water and a lemonade) we weren't asked if we wanted ice, the server desided herself that we did. So i had to ask for new drinks without ice. They had quite a large menu selection. Plus and addtional specials board. The specials had a good deal on with a starter and main for £10. Si the four of us had various choices from the specials. The meals were well cooked and rustic. Grilled meat and chips, Simple chicken curry. I went for the soup of the day which was a very nice fresh made tomato soup. Others had chichen gouzons that were a little over cooked. We moved on to puddings. One cheese cake and one sticky toffee pudding. The cheese cake seemed to have been made on a layer on concrete rather than a biscuit base. My mother-in-law couldn't break through with a spoon. So we tried with a knife then a steak knife. Eventually we broke it into small enough to try eating. The base was as thick as the topping and must have been over chilled. The topping was actually very nice. My wife had the Sticky toffee pudding. Which was all very nice and had finished it down to the last fork full when she noticed a hair threading it's way through the last piece. We did send it back and were given a refund for the pubbing but that was kind of the last straw and we'd have enough. Overall the food was good. They just let themselves down on too many things. We wont...

We stopped off for a Steak Meal having seen the sign Tuesday is Steak Night from £7.95 (and yes it was Tuesday about 20 to six when we stopped.

Good points (the reason it got 3 stars): Steaks were cooked nicely with a medium and medium-rare cooked just right. A beer garden to sit in with evening sunshine Beer well kept

Bad Points (and management please take note and respond): External signage just says "Tuesday Steak Nights from £7.95" - It DOES NOT specify a time. So as we ordered before 6 pm we were charged £4.00 more in total (not happy) The meal looked really sorry when it arrived. Steal, baked potato, half a grilled tomato and 6 button mushrooms - yes that's it for £9.95 (Where were the peas say the cost to management 5p or the onion rings maybe 10p when bulk bought. So a half-empty plate could have been made to look half decent at a slightly smaller margin of say 15p - which I wouldn't have through was too much to ask when being over charged by £4 huh?)

If you are going to say (well those are optional extras) well that might be the case but it didn't say on your blackboard by the bar, and even if it had, I would have said for £9.95 I'd expect those to be included. It's a real shame as I think you are "spoiling the ship for a hapeth of tar" as my Dad...

Stayed here for 1 night whilst passing through. The bed & breakfast room was large with a sitting/kitchenette, large bedroom & a large bathroom. Included in the price was a continental breakfast. Well, this is where it went down hill, in the fridge was gone off milk, this they replaced when we reported it. Also, in the fridge was a plate of different bread & preserves ready for our breakfast, I decided to check this out as something told me that this side of the business get's neglected, I was glad I did as the bread was stale, this made me check the dates on the boxes of cereal that were in the cupboard, 3 out of 4 boxes were 4 months out of date, the fruit had also seen better day's. When we reported all of this, the girl who was left in charge did offer us a free cooked breakfast the next morning but as they don't start cooking until 10 am this was too late for us. Also, the crockery is poorly stocked, only 1 knife & 1 cereal bowl available. On the evening we arrived we did have some chips & onion rings as we were not that hungry, this was like eating a bowl of grease, nothing had been drained off. It is such a shame as they have such a lovely building & the bed & breakfast could be superb. We would not...
