The Hog — Restaurant in Stroud

I don’t often write reviews but The Hog is such a fantastic pub, it had to be done! We went in yesterday evening (our first visit) and were well impressed. I’m into my beers and there was great selection of well kept real ales and craft beer (only 3 stamps to go on my loyalty card so will be back soon for the free pizza 😋), the staff were all really friendly and a nice atmosphere too. Affordable food (a rare thing in pubs now) and what we had was spot on (chips topped with chilli and humous with flatbread). Lots of outdoor seating to enjoy the sun (or shade) and we also enjoyed the tunes inside as it was vinyl night. AMAZING FOOD- THE BEST SUNDAY ROASTS IN THE AREA! this was our first time visiting this pub having lived in the area for 21 years. SRG catering cook the roasts every Sunday and having heard amazing things from the quality of food, we thought we would give them a try. Staff at the pub were very nice, knew what they were doing and everything ran really smooth. Having somebody greet you at the door these days is very rare and created a high expectation of the service throughout. The gentleman very professional and welcoming. I decided to use the app to order the drinks and the value for money was great compared to other pubs in the area. A nice pub which like so many is trying to manage under the restrictions. Quite rightly it's table service only. Unfortunately it appeared to be acceptable for a couple of locals to go to the bar to get drinks. Not a good example for others. There isn't enough signage in the garden to let customers sitting there know that access to the toilets is not through the pub. It must be a nightmare operating in the hospitality sector at present but what is expected of customers needs to be clear and consistent for all customers.
