Great little pub, friendly staff and good selection of tasty beer. Honestly though (and being British it's not easy, but hopefully it's constructive 😁), the food was just ok; homely but by no means gourmet, and was a bit of a let down when thinking of a typical gastro pub. Perhaps the head chef (if there is one) was not on, or our expectations were too high. The sauces seemed to be not made in the kitchen, the rice a touch overcooked, and the chicken bland (although the chicken burger was tasty). Finishing on a positive, the dessert was delicious. Your call I guess!! 3.5 stars. Because of the price, we probably wouldn't go back.
Edit after response from owner: your menu is complex, and as Mr Ramsay might suggest, overly so then for home cooking. I am sure the sauces that we were served were from jars. Do you have a head chef and is he/she restricted? In my opinion, you could bring it down a notch and focus on some great dishes. But I'm just a paying customer, so nobody really of any...
Read moreAs a Dutch tourist, I really wanted to try a traditional Sunday roast for the first time in my life. I searched for pubs in the area where I was staying and came across The Ram Inn. I made a reservation through Facebook and received a quick and friendly reply confirming that I could come with my parents.
The pub itself is beautiful, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were incredibly kind and made us feel at home right away. And then the food — wow! My high expectations of a Sunday roast were more than fulfilled. The meal was absolutely delicious and perfectly accompanied by a nice pint of beer.
If I lived nearby, I would definitely come here often. I can highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a genuine pub experience with great food and wonderful...
Read moreLovely surprise. We dropped into this pub by chance and had a great meal at a really reasonable price. The menu was good, covering a range of tastes without trying to provide everything. Service was prompt and friendly, and it is clearly popular with the local village as the bar area was busy. The food was great. Unlike many independent pubs and nearly all pub chains, food was cooked fresh and natural. Chicken nuggets were battered chicken breast. Chips hand cut and fried. Veg fresh and cooked well, not tinned or mushy. Pulled pork belly was a little on the over cooked side, but forgiven as the gravy was delightful. So good quality food and sending priced. A similar piece of pork belly at a local chain would be £5 more at least and no where near as good. Definitely...
