The guide post — Restaurant in Sunderland

The wife and I visited the guide post today 01/03/25 for some food. We placed our order which they said they were busy so could be 30mins and sat down with our drinks. We waited and waited for our food I even went to the bar and got more drinks. After nearly an hour 1 of the bar staff came over to tell us the order had not gone though to the kitchen until someone else had made an order. She asked if we still wanted it as we were there I said yes. After another 20 minutes they finally bought our order but they brought my starter and main meal at the same time. When we finished and went to the bar to pay there was no apology. Then to cap it all when I got home and checked the bill they had charged me £4.90 for 2 small cokes when I only had 1. 12 of us all had a lovely day, food good, loads to choose from, burger brill, home made chips, cheap and cheerful, nice ambience, fish nice not over fried crispy batter, outside tables with smoking, what more could u want? I know! Amazing staff! They were very welcoming, friendly and gave us free pool games, that's what makes a good pub! Go that extra mile, I will come back again. Like I say cheap, good quality food and nice staff, also bottle of wine is cheap...

We decide a short notice to use this pub for our works Christmas lunch. The place was quite empty on a Tuesday afternoon. There was 8 of us and we all ordered from the main course menu. I had the cod and chips and my colleagues had a range of meals including curry, steak and ale pie and sausage and chips. Their was no complaints from our party but no one praising the meal either.
