Last Sunday, we visited Mottram Wood, which is one of our local pubs. Unfortunately, we had a less than satisfying experience. Including long waits, debris in our food and rude staff.
We have a 1 year old and after our experience would not recommend anyone with kids this age visit here.
We ordered 2 carvery’s, a kids meal and desserts. Firstly, more of an inconvenience for us, after ordering our carvery’s, we found out upon collecting our food there was no Turkey, which is the only meat my partner likes, so she didn’t eat much.
We then waited 1 hour for our kids meal, which was 3 fish fingers, a slice of garlic break and some veggie sticks. I approached the manager on shift (man in green shirt with a beard), who stated that the chefs had accidentally burnt the fish fingers so would remake them. Not sure this took a hour to spot? Following this, we waited another 30 minutes for the food, at which point our little one was very hungry, so she was eating our carvery’s with us.
We then awaited our desserts, cookie lava something or other. They arrived, with more waits. And then, as our little one begins eating, as well as me and my partner, she spits out what appears to be foil from the food. This was hard foil, (sharp edges) with sharp edges, sat on top of the cookie under the ice cream. Choking hazards, cut hazard and unhygienic.
I raised this with the same manager who had little to no sympathy, stating ‘these things happen’. To which point he offered a free play voucher for the play centre, which was useless as we play for free anyway, due to our little ones age. He had no interest in hearing my request for a refund and seemed to be rude to other staff members who were trying to help us.
Rachael, one of the waitresses was great, the only positive, she had a lot of sympathy and tried her best to help but unfortunately the rest of the establishment seems unwilling to have any organisation.
I hope no one else experiences this here but we will not be...
Read moreI don't normally do negative reviews as I would normally deal with it at the time however we couldn't see a manager to speak to and we were pretty tired from travelling all day. Service was appalling. Walked in, asked what table number we were sat on as there were no numbers on any table. Looked though the sticky dirty menus and made our choices. Waited 20 minutes for drinks. They didn't arrive. I went to ask a member of staff of we had put the correct table number on, we had been told the wrong number. I asked for our order to be transferred to the correct number. Luckily? Not sure with already waiting 20 minutes for drinks! The drinks hadn't even been looked at. These got made and brought over. In less than 5 minutes. It can be done if the team are doing the job. Next came the food. Waiter brought 2 meals out placed 1 down whilst also hitting my wife in the head with the other plate. Pie was good. Chix mix was not. The skewer was not there just dry over cooked pieces of chicken and wings on a plate with cold BBQ beans and chips. The next 2 meals came. Hunters chicken burnt and overcooked. All day breakfast missing 2 hash browns and half was mushrooms making the whole meal taste of mushrooms. Eggs over done, toast burnt. The restaurant of the restaurant was carnage. Dirty plates everywhere. The bar top was full of dirty glasses. I know if understaffed it is hard however when 2 of the staff or just stood talking the restaurant is never going to get tidied up. The strong smell of weed at the front door should really have put us off to start with. Definitely would...
Read moreBrought my son here with my partner today to prevent him getting cabin fever in the holidays. We took him into the Wacky Warehouse, considering it was 1:30pm during half term, it was only being supervised by one woman who was absolutely run off her feet and yet still had the time to make tannoy announcements to ensure that the kids were behaving themselves! She was also really friendly and observant. It was really busy and there were a number of children throwing balls out of the ball pool and it's the first soft play I've been on for years where the supervisor has actually taken note of bad behaviour and advised the kids against it. My son helped her collect all the balls from the ball pit and she asked whether he could have a couple of small bags of Haribo as a reward, of course we were really proud and we were so pleased that she recognised his efforts and showed appreciation.
We had lunch afterwards and it was good, it's cheap food that suits at the price range. We're local so it's just down the road for us which is ideal for a cheap lunch out.
Unfortunately we ordered to the table via the app while we were in the Wacky Warehouse, and when we went to the main bar (not in the WW) after a 15 minute wait, the other member of staff (who was also on her own) hadn't taken the order from the printer.
The highlight was the lady in the soft play area. She put my mind at ease knowing that my son wasn't potentially unsafe...
