If you have a mix heritage family do not attend this place!! This is the second time I have experience what can only be the describe as blatent racism which seems to a very common theme at the Botley Hill Farmhouse. My 6 year daughter was verbally abused and repeatedly shouted at on xmas day by a customer and her husband for watching a santa video on my phone whilst waiting for our Christmas Dinner!! My daughter was in floods of tears on Christmas day because of these ignorant, disgraceful, uneducated racist people. Grown adults have no right to shout, make racist comments nor make any physical contact with other peoples children but it seems like the Botley think this behaviour from their customers is acceptable. We are absolutely disgraced at the way this matter was dealt with and how despite seeing what was going on staff appeared to think this was acceptable. Racism has no place in society and your pub is not exempt. The attitudes in this place toward mixed heritage families is like something out of the 1800s. To top it off food was tasteless normally the food is okay here but not today. It was not worth anywhere near the price of £120 a head. Unless you want your family to be discriminated against by the local drunks and for staff to stand by and think this is okay avoid this place. In response to your response: Firstly we have always been fully aware these customers were friends of yours that was always very clear to us. I feel like it’s taken you a few days to try to “collaborate” a response and paint a very different picture that is far from the truth. Instead of contacting me to apologise for the horrific prejudice, aggressive and intimidatory behaviour myself and my family experienced at your “establishment” I feel you appear to be more interested in trying to cover up the truth, defend yours and indeed your “friends/customers” reputation and behaviour towards children and indeed adults– this is further concerning. No care has been shown about the upset caused to my children and my family on Christmas Day at your “establishment” this in itself speaks volumes. You say you have contacted everyone – I find this very interesting as you have not contacted myself nor any members of my family - I feel that this is further discrimination. Your “friends/ customers” were not seated at an adjourning table as I feel you conveniently appear to wrongly allege; they were sat in a separate room from us. Your friends/ customers approached our table from a table in another room on 4 separate occasions and engaged in unlawful behaviour towards both children and adults on Xmas day - you were fully aware of this as I informed you and asked for you to please move them away from my children and my family on a number of occasions as they kept repeatedly coming over to our table behaving in this horrific manner. Feel free to consult your legal advisors but as well as quoting the truth I am also entitled to freedom of opinion and expression unless of course you are further trying to discriminate against me and think for some reason that I am not? I will not be intimidated, threatened nor silenced by your “establishment.” Sadly it appears you are not prepared to be transparent nor accountable however if you do take something from this for the sake of other families, no matter their heritage, please do not allow anyone to treat people (especially young children) in this manner. I would never ever want any other family to experience the discrimination, profiling, aggression and intimidation that we did. When you seek your legal advice i feel it may be wise to also ask them to explain your obligations as a business under GDPR legislation and the rights of data subjects too. Please feel free to have your legal advisors contact me and I will pass them onto...

In order to celebrate our aniversary I was recommended to try the Botley Hill Farmhouse in Limpsfield for a meal and a drink. This was our first time for us and we were both looking forward to it. We arrived at about 4.45pm last Saturday and fancied a coffee and a piece of cake in the small outbuilding but sadly this was now closed.

We decided to try the main pub and restaurant. We entered and were met by a lovely building with a lovely ambience. I went to the bar and purchased 2 drinks and we sat on a small 2 person table by the bar.

I intimated to the bar staff that we were looking to eat a meal and they said that we could eat at that table.

As the early evening passed we settled in for the evening but were approached by a male at 5.50pm that our table had been pre-booked and we would have to move to another table.

At no time when we sat down were we informed that we only had just over an hour to have a drink and a meal. Had we been told this we would have either moved to another table on entering and settleing ourselves down for the evening or we could have moved on to another pub.

I questioned the need to move to another table with a female who said that she was a manager. She informed me that they do not put reserve signs on tables although she couldn't explain why not.

By this time the pub was starting to get busy and there wasnt many tables left.

She was totally unsympathetic and didnt really care that our experience of this new venue to us and our special evening had been totally spoilt.

Rather than get into a heated discussion with staff especially in front of other customers we decided to leave and go home and pick up fish and chips enroute home .

I doubt that we would go back to this venue again which is very sad as the pub and restaurant looked...

Nestled in the scenic Surrey Hills, Botley Hill Farmhouse offers a perfect escape from London’s bustle, combining stunning countryside views with hearty, well-prepared food.

The first thing that stands out is the breathtaking location. Perched at one of the highest points in the North Downs, the farmhouse provides panoramic views of rolling fields and woodlands, making it an excellent spot for a relaxed meal, especially at sunset. Whether you’re dining inside the rustic yet elegant restaurant or outside on the terrace, the setting enhances the experience.

The menu is a mix of classic British dishes with a modern touch. The Sunday roasts are a highlight, particularly the slow-roasted beef, which is tender and full of flavor, served with crispy roast potatoes, rich gravy, and perfectly cooked vegetables. The fish and chips are another standout, with a light, crispy batter and flaky fish. Vegetarian options, like the wild mushroom risotto, are equally satisfying. The desserts, particularly the sticky toffee pudding, are indulgent and well worth saving room for.

Service is warm and efficient, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. Prices are reasonable for the quality and setting, making it a great choice for a special meal or a weekend outing.

Spent an afternoon in its outdoor seating and stayed for a dinner. It can get busy on weekend nights, so I recommend to make a booking. Also, there are lots of bench seating outdoors, but was quite windy and chilly despite the sunny weather early March. They only serve local beers on tap. So there was a limited option, on that day was 1 lager, 2 pale ale (1 non-alcoholic) and a cider. Spirits and wine have more options though. Indoor seating is a bit cozy (exact word the hostess used, I thought was cozy-warm but meant cozy-tight and small). Toilets were not wheelchair friendly but the restaurant was pet-friendly. The end where we sat for dinner was cold, without a working heater. We had to wear our coats. My husband enjoyed the rib eye steak, nice and tender. The foccacia starter had a generous portion of the bread and olive oil. The duck leg was good as well but the portion was a bit small (£24 for a drumstick). I would be willing to pay a little more for a proper leg portion. The view outside the pub is gorgeous. Parking lot can accomodate a lot of cars.

I visit Botley fairly regularly and do have a soft spot for the place. Sadly, this time I came away with a painful head injury and I feel they are currently remiss with their approach to safety. There is a low door on the way to the toilet and despite the signs I smashed my head on it (I’m only 5’8”). I’m still badly bruised and I really think it’s important they take action. To be clear, there are plenty of signs saying mind your head, some attempting to be humorous- and yes I can read. But life isn’t like that. Accidents still happen if you’re distracted and the injury to my scalp is really quite nasty. A lot of old pubs like this install a pad of some sort and it’s problem solved. You still get a bump but nothing as vicious as can currently happen. I do hope Botley makes the small investment here to prevent future inevitable injuries of patrons. If it was someone infirm, the outcome could be really nasty.
