Arrived for our booking for Sunday Lunch on Fathers Day only to be told Sunday Lunch Menu isn't on because there weren't enough bookings ???? They did however agree to honour the 3 course fixed price deal off the regular menu. This menu is really over-priced. Starters @ £16 ?? We expected something really special for this price but the food was pretty average to be honest. They gave us a Roast Beef Dinner option that we had and to be fair the Beef was beautifull and the highlight of the day. Desserts were again okay but really over priced. This restaurant is in a beautiful setting and has the makings of a wonderful eatery. There needs to be some real attention to detail as there are quite a few areas that either look really tired and dirty or have housekeeping issues. It's such a shame that this place has let standards slip spoiling it...
Read moreAte two evening meals over two days and score represents the average over the two meals. First evening had the burger which was ok, dessert (sponge pudding) was not good (lukewarm and small). Second evening (steak and crème brûlée) was really really good. Me and my wife had the Hunters fish and chips which wasn’t called that on the menu, but I had to hunt for the chips which I found out were hidden under the rather small piece of battered fish. The very same piece of fish that was completely devoid of taste and all for the privilege of £22 per person. The drinks were offensively expensive even in this day and age where second mortgages are needed to visit some establishments. I didn’t bother with a dessert because at £12 for a crème brûlée, thanks but no thanks. Overall, unless you like paying ridiculous prices for average at best food, avoid this place. The views are...
