5⭐️ vibe, stunning views, sparkling clean, comfortable sitting - top of the crop. We had a lunch included in our gateway pack. Food is freshly made, nicely balanced and lovely served. but for the price you want a bit more. Some part of the meal, like for instance my Avo and shrimp salad , are identical to what you find in a high quality Gastro pub, but the price tag is much higher. For the main we tried gnocchi and pasta. That was very well made. Made in house , gorgeous sauces, smartly a balanced flavours and textures. My personal sun up - if you plan to chill for a day, worth a price but manage your expectations

We visited Smiths Brasserie for a pre Christmas Lunch. The setting it’s just lovely, atmosphere was really relaxing and service very professional. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, my wife had the Salmon Filet on Green salad and I have the 10 oz Steak, the food was very well presented and tasted very good. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and really wished we could have spent longer at the castle, unfortunately due to a busy schedule we didn’t have a lot of time to relax. We will definitely visit again and would highly recommend you visit for a meal and also suggest you consider a stay in the hotel. Excellent experience

We celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary at This beautiful Bovey castle and already plan to have meal at Brasserie for our 1st night. The food was delicious. And staff just lovely. I love the food presentation as it make me more excited to eat. I love to see nice food presentation. The price wepaid for dinner are worth to spend. We are soo lucky as when we stay there, so we can dedinitely have table for our dinner. We enjoy our meal. Thank you for making our anniversary memorable. We definitely will come back.😊😊

Arrived for our booking for Sunday Lunch on Fathers Day only to be told Sunday Lunch Menu isn't on because there weren't enough bookings ???? They did however agree to honour the 3 course fixed price deal off the regular menu. This menu is really over-priced. Starters @ £16 ?? We expected something really special for this price but the food was pretty average to be honest. They gave us a Roast Beef Dinner option that we had and to be fair the Beef was beautifull and the highlight of the day. Desserts were again okay but really over priced. This restaurant is in a beautiful setting and has the makings of a wonderful eatery. There needs to be some real attention to detail as there are quite a few areas that either look really tired and dirty or have housekeeping issues. It's such a shame that this place has let standards slip spoiling it...

Ate two evening meals over two days and score represents the average over the two meals. First evening had the burger which was ok, dessert (sponge pudding) was not good (lukewarm and small). Second evening (steak and crème brûlée) was really really good. Really well cooked steak to our liking followed by a quality desert. Service was polite and professional but varied in quality e.g if you’re not going to leave the water jug on the table please return and refill the glasses. To be nitpicky for a restaurant in a 5 star hotel it’s the little touches that are missing that you would get and/or expect ie bread to start, or an amuse bouche etc. and offer more than one rose! Unless you want to leave the hotel Smiths was the only option, so I would return but would choose...

We visited for a special birthday lunch and, for me personally, this was a massive rip off. Me and my wife had the Hunters fish and chips which wasn’t called that on the menu, but I had to hunt for the chips which I found out were hidden under the rather small piece of battered fish. The very same piece of fish that was completely devoid of taste and all for the privilege of £22 per person. The drinks were offensively expensive even in this day and age where second mortgages are needed to visit some establishments. I didn’t bother with a dessert because at £12 for a crème brûlée, thanks but no thanks. Overall, unless you like paying ridiculous prices for average at best food, avoid this place. The views are...
