I attended a wedding here recently. I was a bridesmaid, so I got to see a lot of the behind the scenes of the day. To give context my partner and myself have attended quite a few weddings both in the UK and abroad over the past couple of years. I would say to compare, Bickley mill performed wonderfully. The catering was top notch, some of the best I’ve seen at a wedding. It is extremely difficult to pull it off and they did so seamlessly. The portions were just right, all the food was served hot and allergies were accommodated for. The staff were extremely helpful. As with all weddings there were some last minute problems from our side (lost seat labels.etc) but the wedding planner Amy stepped in and saved the day. The make-up artist and hairdresser were able to set up in the bridal suite. Making it so much easier for my friend to enjoy her big day and not worry about transport to the wedding. The rooms had good water pressure in the shower, were spotlessly clean and the mattress was very comfortable. Our room was cleaned without us even noticing. The linens were immaculate. The food served in the restaurant was delicious and locally sourced. Good selection of local ciders, ale and beer. I do not drink alcohol, but there was a large selection of juices, mocktails and 0% alternatives on offer. The outside space is very pretty and there are grassy areas for kids to run around on. A high chair was provided for young children at the wedding dinner. There is ample space for DJ set up and dancing in the hall area. When there was a last minute hitch with the wedding cake, a lovely lady (can’t remember her name but she served at breakfast both mornings), stepped in and fixed it. The BBQ was fantastic and everyone enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend this as a venue for an intimate wedding, e.g 50-100 guests. It is in a stunning location and a short journey by car or taxi from Newton Abbot train station. Local taxi drivers were telling us how good the local reputation of place is and how well known they are for their food. We noticed that local people were coming in every night for dinner at the restaurant.

Really impressed! Thank you for...

Bickley is a beautiful place and we celebrated our magical day there. We have eaten there many times and have enjoyed ever bit of food consumed there. The only things they have to let them down is the orginastional skills from the team there.

We move our wedding twice because of covid and paid our bill before the original date. I also paid for 3 rooms so I could spend the night before my wedding there. When we secure the final date and signed the new contract I was under the impression I still had my rooms especially as they were fully paid for. Well no this was not the case it took me to email them 2 months after we secured the date for them to tell me the rooms had been allocated to the guest at the wedding the day before. This was a huge disappointmbecuase I had this planned for 3 years. It had taken my husband and I to. Complain multiple times to even get a refund for the rooms.

Anyway wejn I arrived on the morning of mtje big day I was told I could decorate from 10:30, but this was not the case as the room and decking area hadn't been fully cleaned. We also were not greeted by anyone, so I took apon myself to get on with it. My husband turned up at 2pm and not once did anyone greet him or new who he was. When it came to the speaking the the registrar they had to ask him who the groom was as they had no clue. The day time music you could hear unless you were sitting in the the miller's room even after we asked to turn the music up. None of the guests who stayed the night were also unaware as to what time the breakfast was being served in the morning. So it was left down to my husband and I to inform them of this. Wit was also left down to me to unwrap the sweet table as no one was around.

Other than all the inconvenience occurances my husband, myself and the guests had a...

We got married at Bickley Mill in August 22 and it was the perfect venue for our wedding. We chose Bickley due to the packages on offer, and I am so glad we did. The venue is beautiful, the food was delicious, and service was faultless.

Bickley is the perfect setting for a wedding, it feels so intimate but there is enough space for you to escape if you want too. There are so many opportunities for stunning photos too (we loooved the abandoned barn in the far area of the gardens). The food was really important to us as we are both big foodies, so we made sure to eat there a few time before booking and every time the food was incredible. On our day we chose a BBQ for the wedding breakfast and our guests loved it! There was so much food available and it all tasted amazing. Although the options in the package for evening food sounded good, they weren’t quite us. Bickley were happy to create a bespoke option for us which tasted amazing.

We want to say a huge thank you to Louise, Daisy and the rest of the staff. Louise put up with our millions of questions before the day and helped us plan everything we needed. Daisy ran our wedding day and made sure we were on time, that everything that needed to be done was done. Every member of staff was warm, welcoming and excellent at their jobs. We had heard that wedding days can be stressful and you don’t get any time to enjoy yourself, but thanks to the staff at Bickley we had the best day. Our day ran without a hitch and that was down to the expertise’s of Bickley’s staff, so thank you all so much.

If you are considering getting married at Bickley, do it. We couldn’t recommend...

We stayed here this weekend as part of a wedding party. We enjoyed our stay and the venue location is very pretty and picturesque. Everyone had a great time! They also have some nice beers on tap, including a very nice pale ale. The wedding food was great too although I don't know if the Inn provided this or an external caterer. Most of the staff were lovely and friendly apart from the woman that served our breakfast. She seemed very annoyed that we came down for breakfast 10 minutes before the cut off; which was a ridiculously early 9am. Having to be up and dressed before 9am on a Sunday, after a wedding seems thoughtless. It felt like they were rushing to kick us out! Most people didn't make it down for breakfast. Check in and check out times were stingy too. We couldn't check in until 3pm but had to check out at 10:30am. I feel that the £120 that we paid for one night was far too expensive. The room was Ok but no better than the Premier Inn we paid £50 for in Exeter the night before. The shower was rubbish and had no pressure at all. Also, because it is located in the countryside, we couldn't get any phone signal to tell people we'd arrived and the WiFi was awful... Not good when we were streaming Spotify for the wedding music! Overall it was OK but if it was my choice, I wouldn't stay here again. There were a few other things that they could've done better, mostly related to the wedding, attention to detail stuff, but this review is already getting too long.
