Friendly and helpful staff in a very convenient café in Haldon Forest. For lunch, they have salads, burgers, wraps, jacket potatoes, soup, and more. For afternoon tea they iffee cakes, scones and biscuits. The food is no-nonsense café food. My homemade scotch egg salad with chutney and coleslaw was tasty, though with slightly too much dressing. My companion's quiche was fine but slightly rubbery through overheating. The coffee is strong! There's a lovely wooden structure outside that provides shade and protection over wooden picnic tables.

Absolutely brilliant for those with coeliac disease or needing to eat gluten free. I had a bacon, brie and cranberry panini which was delicious. Lots of options and very knowledgeable about cross contamination - they had a separate area and used new gloves etc. Felt very safe - perfect!

lovely place if you get the chance to go, then go, lovely location, firest walks, plenty of places to picnic, other things to do on site. Go Ape, finish with food and drinks from this cafe at reasonable prices and they bring your food to your table 🙂🙂🙂

Gorgeous food but so so disappointed in the staff and how we were treated during our lunch here. Somehow one persons meal got missed off of the ticket so we didn’t receive it, after asking the waitress where it was it was found that it hadn’t been put through at all which is want the end of the world but the rest of us had our food so I politely asked the waitress if the kitchen could make the missing meal and then I would come up and pay for it when I was done eating as I had been sat waiting for their meal to arrive for 5/10 minutes with my food going cold as it was. I was also waiting for some metal cutlery (which we never got) because they had no clean cutlery. I started eating my meal believing they were cooking the missing meal to be approached by a rude waitress telling me to go up and pay for the missing meal now before they cook it. She had a really bad attitude and it felt like she was having a go. I then explained that I was in the middle of eating and could I please pay after I had eaten as my food was already going cold and there was a long queue and it wasn’t our fault the meal hadn’t been put through as we knew the girl on the till had taken it as she asked what size we wanted and showed us the size of the bowls. We then had the chef come up to our table which was really unnecessary as he just said that it was gone to pay after and there was no problem with what we had arranged with the first waitress. I then later went up to buy my children some biscuits and I said to the girl behind the till I was disappointed with the attitude we received and being told I had to go up and pay in the middle of eating my meal. We had paid quite a lot of money to eat there for lunch and we were all just trying to enjoy our lunch and didn’t need numerous staff members coming up to the table unnecessarily. This then resulted in another girl getting involved, the chef then coming and getting involved and just being repeatedly told it was our fault for not checking our receipt which I said it’s not something that everyone does and that we had to go collect our coffee’s etc while we were waiting for the food. Just all in all very rude and unnecessary staff when I was being polite and didn’t at all refuse to pay or complain about paying just about how we were being spoken to. Left feeling quite deflated and disappointed. What a shame as it’s such a lovely location and such lovely food. I think the staff need training on how to deal with these situations politely and efficiently so they don’t make customers feel uncomfortable and ruin their time over a...

Small cafe, certainly not cheap at close to £15 for coffee and a panini but the food was nice and well done. Unfortunately it is extremely noisy with a combination of over excited screaming kids at most tables, and the staff shouting at full volume each order out in detail (and there are a lot of orders!). It feels chaotic and more like I was at Crealy! I would go again if it warm enough to sit outside as the coffee was great. Also experienced one extremely unhelpful member of staff but another quickly stepped in was lovely, friendly and sorted out what I...

Today Haldon Forest was incredibly busy and thus so was the Ridge Cafe. Albeit exceptionally busy the very friendly staff showed no signs of stress and behaved impeccably. They also cleared tables quickly and kept the place clean and tidy. The food choice and quality is superb and I have mentioned many a time that I actually think they make the best soup I have tried literally anywhere! Today I carefully watched how they performed because they were so busy; their performance was admirable. Needless to say being in Haldon Forest the setting is great. Well...
