This pub is a little gem hidden off the beaten track in a village near Teignmouth. It’s full of history, built originally in the 1600s, wonky walls, oak beams and roaring log fires add to the charm. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, and we were served quickly. We went straight into the mains with rump steak for my husband and fish and chips for me, followed by St Clements posset with shortbread - absolutely delicious. Good range of beers and very nice wines too. We will be back soon. Our second visit was last week. We sat outside in the delightful patio and garden area overlooking the village church and surrounded by flowers, it was a treat. Our food was excellent - bang bang cauliflower was followed by hake and cod mornay and salmon and prawn linguine which were absolutely delicious. The St Clements posset, with the shortest shortbread ever, topped off our meal very nicely. We left feeling very full and happy. Can’t recommend this place highly enough, we will be back again.

We love coming here to have food! It’s about ten minutes drive from our house in Newton Abbot and the service is always prompt and friendly. Even if it wasn’t, the food is amazing! Without fail, ever since I had it the first time a year or two ago, I ALWAYS have the Asian chicken burger! It is the BEST CHICKEN BURGER in the UNIVERSE. I never have the same meal anywhere but here, because it is so good! We always mix it up with starters and desserts, and my partner loves the dishes, whichever he chooses. Due to some dietary restrictions, today I asked if I could have the burger without the bun and with a side salad instead of the fries, and they obliged - still amazing :-) There’s always a good selection of booze available, really nice gin and tonics served here too! Camden Stout also lush. If only we could walk here, we’d be over the moon! Fab local pub, great service, great restaurant! CHEF HAS MAD SKILLS.

We used to live locally and visited often. We decided to try it again and glad we did. We had the most amazing vegetarian burger and chips. I hope it stays on the menu as it really was so good. The people on the next table were raving about their food too, so it's safe to say the general quality is good. The pub was quiet ( we ate mid week lunch time) . The bar staff/ landlords were pleasant and helpful. It's an old fashioned pub with open fires, hunting scenes, cosy nooks so it has a traditional vibe if that's what you are after. Accessibility wise there is plenty of parking just up the road in the car park, there are a few steps to get into the building. Definitely worth a visit.

From the moment our phone call was answered I was impressed, he was very helpful and quick to secure a table . We booked for a Sunday lunch. When we arrived we were instantly welcomed by a lovely gentleman who showed us to our seat.... the pub was warm and nicely decorated, very oldy worldy and the smell if the wood open fire was gorgeous. We had roast lunch and the quality of the meat and the vegetables was very good, all beautifully cooked and with some lovely flavours, really generous portions and we ordered cauliflower cheese too. Delish! Pudding we had brownie and sticky toffee pudding and both were fabulous. I have already spread the word on my face book page... in my opinion there are so many pubs struggling and often empty but there is a good reason why this one busy (And turning down many people over the phone that day) These guys have got a great business because of their attention to detail, professional service, experience, and amazing food! It was such a pleasure to go there and we will defo go again. Thank you so much...
