The Beach Haven Cafe — Restaurant in Tendring

This place is awful and needs a health and safety visit!! I understand that this is a dog friendly cafe but you can be that and still be hygienic!! The staff are handling dogs and then serving customers without washing their hands, for someone with a dog allergy who was passing to buy a drink, this could be very dangerous or even fatal. We saw two big dogs entering the kitchen, staying in there for at least five minutes!! The said dog was shaking its fur the whole time it was outside the cafe, so I dread to think what was going on inside!! Very unhygienic!! As a local I will not be returning and definitely not be recommending this place...

A lovely cafe with friendly staff and good food at very reasonable prices. Fastidious in hygiene but dog friendly on a dog friendly section of the beach. If you have a reason to dislike dogs of all shapes, sizes and temperaments then I suggest visiting one of the other cafés along the beach. I have been a customer for 10+ years and have never had a problem with standards maintained by the staff. We've been coming to the beach haven cafe for 10 years! I think we would be classed as local, regulars. Never ever had a problem. This is a dog friendly cafè. The staff are scrupulous in their health and hygiene, ALWAYS washing their hands! This is the best cafè by far along Clacton, Holland and Frinton beach. So friendly, kind and genuinely lovely staff. But there are other places to go to, for anyone with a "dog allergy!!" Or prefers "sour grapes" We are all very happy here.
