What’s not to like here. There are few few station platform buffets left these days where you can also get a beer. The Manningtree offering has a good selection of beer and a couple of local ales on too (£4.50 for a pint of ale at time of writing). Butties were advertised at £4 including a hot drink which seemed great value, although I didn’t indulge. You can’t knock being able to finish a pint and step onto your train within seconds. The staff were friendly too and there are outside seats if it’s a nice day where you can watch the trains. Worth waiting until the next train just to stop by. Perfect to step onto the train when it arrives too!

Nothing special about the cafe but it is good to get refreshments if wanted while on a walk from Manningtree railway station to Manningtree village. To see where John Constable painted some of his landscapes is a treat. I fully enjoyed that walk.

After a horrendous journey getting to Manningtree, it was a welcome pit stop to kill time waiting for my next train. Had a lovely Toasted bacon & egg sandwich with a free cup of coffee. Great service and price.

Manningtree Station Buffet is a unique establishment located within Manningtree railway station in Essex, England. It functions both as a café and a small pub, offering a variety of food and drink options to travelers and locals alike. The menu features freshly made bacon and sausage sandwiches in the mornings, as well as full English breakfasts. In addition to hot and cold rolls and sandwiches, patrons can enjoy a selection of ales, beers, spirits, teas, and coffees.

The venue is known for its friendly atmosphere and efficient service, making it an excellent spot to grab a bite before catching a train or to relax with a drink. It also offers outdoor seating for those who prefer to dine al fresco.

We wanted something to eat on the train. The advertised bacon roll and hot drink took our fancy but we were disappointed that the service was so slow that we were worried it would not be ready before our train arrived. (There were only 2 people in front of us) The choice of pastries was very poor, all prepacked, so we opted for a bottle of water only. I would of been happy to support local businesses but in this case it was a...
