What’s not to like here. There are few few station platform buffets left these days where you can also get a beer. The Manningtree offering has a good selection of beer and a couple of local ales on too (£4.50 for a pint of ale at time of writing).

Butties were advertised at £4 including a hot drink which seemed great value, although I didn’t indulge.

We wanted something to eat on the train. The advertised bacon roll and hot drink took our fancy but we were disappointed that the service was so slow that we were worried it would not be ready before our train arrived.
