We recently booked a table at Abbots Mitre for a large group Sunday lunch, and we were all so impressed from start to finish. The warm welcome on arrival set the tone for a fantastic experience.
One of the reasons we chose this pub was the variety on the menu, not everyone in our group enjoys a traditional roast, and Abbots Mitre offered something for everyone. Between us, we ordered a range of dishes, from classic roast beef to hearty pies and tasty fishcakes. Every single person commented on how delicious their meal was.
The service was outstanding throughout. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience so smooth. We especially appreciated that, at the end of the meal, they allowed each of us to go up to the bar and pay for our own food and drinks. It completely removed the usual awkwardness of splitting a large bill.
Overall, it was a wonderful Sunday lunch. Great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere, we’ll...
Read moreTwo friends and I had a lovely lunch here yesterday (Thursday 12/04/18). The staff were fabulous and so welcoming. It was such a cold, damp, dreary day and we sat in front of the log fire ... fabulous! There was so much choice on the menu - we each chose something different, and were all delighted. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and lovely and hot. The wine we chose (a French Sauvignon Blanc) was superb and a very good price.
We wanted to have a long natter as we don't get together very often. The staff were attentive, but did not hurry us to order and left us alone after we'd finished our meal (just telling us to let them know if we needed anything else). We were first into the restaurant at 12:00 and last to leave at about 16:30!
We loved the place and will certainly be returning. Chilbolton is a delightful village.
Thank you to the lovely staff. We had...
Read moreWe went to Abbots Mitre a week ago while staying in Stockbridge to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The pub retains its local village pub atmosphere, which was lovely. In the two evenings we were there, it was a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, plentiful and cooked to perfection. There was a good choice of starters, mains and desserts. We had lamb koftas, steak pie, pork belly, lamb rump and delicious ice cream! The beer and wine were also very good. Everything was reasonably priced. However, perhaps the best thing about it was the landlord and his staff – they were all amazing and the service was excellent. Our only regret is that we live too far away to come...
