Disappointed with Xmas day dinner. When this was booked for 4 people over 2 months ago, we were advised the pub is open all day. Pre orders provided, all contact details etc provided. Yet the day we arrived we were shockingly joked at with them saying "oh you are real then, you have turned up" On the day, we were sat down after waiting to be seated for 15 minutes only for the first course to follow within 15 seconds of being sat down. The main dinner was "ok" except for the dry turkey and the cauliflower cheese had split so was just full of fat. "Sorry about that" we were told with no remedy for it. We were informed part way through our expensive dinner that the pub will be closed at 4pm. We had pre booked a taxi home for 5pm due to being told the pub was open all day. The owner didn't seem bothered that we had been rushed from the off and now had to spend time desperately trying to get hold of the taxi driver to pick us up an hour earlier than we planned. All you had to do was read through the communication between us via Facebook over the past couple of months to realise that you should have informed us of your shorter opening times and if our 1:30pm booking was so inconvenient for you, again you should have told us instead of rushing us. I don't mind feeling a tiny bit rushed on a normal Sunday dinner but when we spent upwards of £300 between 4 of us plus £60 to get there and home it felt like a waste of money. I personally won't be going back due to how much the owner didn't give a monkeys regarding us being rushed or the problems with the food. This was a "get them in, get them out" booking. It can't be anything else. Your lesson here is...
Read moreHad a table booked for 7.30. Arrived at 7.15 and were shown to a table..."Just to let you know, Chef has just said food is now finished". Couldn't quite believe this. We said "But we have a table booked". Response was "Nothing I can do". No apology, no explanation if why food had stopped, no suggestions of where else we could get food locally. Appalling. Walked a short distance down the road and found the Fleet Inn, whete we had a warm welcome, good service and delicious food. Update: After posting this review, the landlady did come and find us at the Fleet Inn, offering a free meal the next day...we were leaving the next day anyway but wouldn't have gone back, so instead she paid for a round of drinks. We appreciated her efforts to try and make things right but it was too late by then; I just wish the landlord had shown he cared about his customers as she did. Hopefully attitudes have...
Read moreWas really looking forward to our Sunday lunch. I pre ordered a gluten free Sunday lunch for myself hoping it would be as I expected. But unfortunately my so called gluten free meal was a plate of all gluten produce. Needless to say it was all sent back, I would of thought because of the 5 day notice for a gluten free lunch would of been enough time to replace the Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and the cauliflower cheese for a gluten free lunch. I ended up with 2 pieces of lamb 6 dried out roasted potatoes, to make up for the lack of food on my plate a very small dish of leeks with peas to which was supposed to feed two people?….. On of which was a very hungry man…. I was still charged £14 for a third of the amount on my plate to a normal size Sunday lunch…… The whole experience was very upsetting, therefore needless to say I will not be booking a Sunday lunch at the...
