I walked into the Sun Inn expecting a roast. What I actually got was a full on life changing event.
The roast at The Sun Inn is nothing short of legendary. From Sarahâs warm welcome to Kirk the Chefs wizardry in the kitchen, everything was spot on. The lamb was so tender it didnât need chewing- my fork gave it a stern look and it simply fell apart. The gravy was beyond ridiculously good and nothing short of liquid happiness, and the cauliflower cheese should have its own tripadvisor page so that I could leave it a separate 5* reviewâŠ. Mid chew I had to pause as I genuinely thought I was ascending into the afterlife as somewhere between the cauliflower and crispy spuds, I saw a white light - turned out it was just the glisten of perfectly poured gravy which resurrected me back to another fork full. The roast potatoes were perfectly crispy and fluffy, the broccoli and veg cooked to perfection and tasted so good it was actually starting to get suspicious.
The whole plate came together like a Sunday miracle. By the time Iâd finished, I was stuffed and 100% convinced Iâd just eaten the best roast...
Read moreWhat a mouth watering menu! A choice of fish, meats or vegetarian dishes, all with very interesting ingredients or accompaniments.
We chose the moules mariniere. The mussels were plump and sweet, the sauce superb. Could not resist dipping the warm toasted sour bread in the sauce - wonderful.
For starters my wife had the cauliflower cheese soup, it was thick, very tasty and plentiful. I had the duck pate with sour bread with a sweet pickle to balance.
After starters and mains we were so full that we could not manage a sweet, but they tried their best to tempt us with homemade honeycombe cheesecake or spotted dick!
This was good cooking and tasty. The service was exceptional and they were so pleased that we appreciated the care taken with the cooking.
Then to the bill - For the quality of food we had it was very, very reasonable with no service charge added so we left a good tip. Other restaurants we know would charge double for the same food. It was exceptional and well...
Read moreWhat a luxury to have two brilliant pubs in one village. Would have loved to have eaten at The Bell because it has such a great reputation but wasnât sure about opening hours from the website, so opted for drinks at The Sun Inn right opposite and what a lovely experience. The land lady, team and locals really couldnât have been more welcoming. It was during the two record-breakingly hot July days and I was in a Campervan down the road and the landlady even said to come by if I needed anything. Wonderful hospitality (& great Guinness). I will definitely come back and eat at the Bell but can 100% recommend both pubs. Oh, very dog friendly too (very important). Thank you guys very...
